Test and Characterization of Multilayer Ion Traps on Fused Silica

open access: yesAdvanced Quantum Technologies, EarlyView.
A multilayer ion trap on fused silica is designed, fabricated, and characterized for scalable quantum computing. The fused silica substrate significantly reduces RF power dissipation compared to silicon. An automated electrical wafer test identifies fabrication defects.

The Blue Lurker WOCS 14020: A Long-period Post-common-envelope Binary in M67 Originating from a Merger in a Triple System

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
We present Hubble Space Telescope far-ultraviolet (FUV) spectra of a blue lurker–white dwarf (BL–WD) binary system in the 4 Gyr open cluster M67. We fit the FUV spectrum of the WD, determining it is a C/O WD with a mass of $0.7{2}_{-0.04}^{+0.05}$ M _ ...

Simultaneous Dynamic Light Scattering, Absorbance and Photoluminescence Measurements of Colloidal Nanoparticles. Application to Colloidal Stability and Aggregation Kinetics of CsPbBr3 Nanocrystals

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
An original but simple instrument capable of performing simultaneous Dynamic Light Scattering, Absorbance and Photoluminescence measurements on suspensions of colloidal nanocrystals (NCs) is realized as a standard laboratory tool. It enables to easily monitor the NCs colloidal stability or to characterize their aggregation kinetics or other colloidal ...

Wind Roche-lobe Overflow in Low-mass Binaries: Exploring the Origin of Rapidly Rotating Blue Lurkers

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Wind Roche-lobe overflow (WRLOF) is a mass-transfer mechanism proposed by Mohamed and Podsiadlowski for stellar binaries wherein the wind acceleration zone of the donor star exceeds its Roche-lobe radius, allowing stellar wind material to be transferred ...

On‐Tip Polymerization Method for Multimodal Characterization of Nanoparticles with Electron/Ion Imaging and Atom Probe Tomography

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
This study presents an on‐tip polymerization method that employs a needle substrate with a designed through‐microchannel (“needle‐eye”) to retain a picoliter‐scale solution of nanoparticles. Using a resin precursor as the solution, polymerization is carried out in situ at the needle tip.
