The blue stragglers of Omega Centauri
On a obtenu les spectres 3500-5000 A (resolution 3,6 A) de six candidats. Ils ne presentent aucune caracteristique inhabituelle. les vitesses radiales montrent que ces six vagabondes bleues appartiennent a l'amas.

A chemical study of M67 candidate blue stragglers and evolved blue stragglers observed with APOGEE DR14 [PDF]
Within the variety of objects populating stellar clusters, blue straggler stars (BSSs) are among the most puzzling ones. BSSs are commonly found in globular clusters, but they are also known to populate open clusters of the Milky Way. Two main theoretical scenarios (collisions and mass transfer) have been suggested to explain their formation, although ...

Ferroelectric nanoclusters create local internal fields in a normally non‐switchable polar film because of polarization mismatch at their interfaces. That field opposes polarization in the regions with larger polarization and reinforces polarization in the regions with smaller polarization.

Unveiling Bifurcated Blue Straggler Sequences in NGC 2173: Insights from Binary Evolution
Identifying bifurcated blue straggler (BS) sequences in color–magnitude diagrams (CMDs) of star clusters has long been regarded as a powerful diagnostic for distinguishing different BS formation mechanisms.

Fast-rotating blue straggler stars in the globular cluster NGC 1851
We studied the rotational velocities of a sample of blue straggler stars (BSSs) and reference stars belonging to the Galactic globular cluster NGC 1851 using high-resolution spectra acquired with FLAMES-GIRAFFE at the ESO/VLT. After field decontamination

Young blue straggler stars in the Galactic field [PDF]
In this study we present an analysis of a sample of field blue straggler (BS) stars that show high ultra violet emission in their spectral energy distributions (SED): indication of a hot white dwarf (WD) companion to BS. Using photometry available in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) and Galaxy Evolution Explorer (GALEX ) surveys we identified 80 ...

Spin Dynamics in the van der Waals Ferromagnet CrTe2 Engineered by Niobium Doping
Spin‐dynamic magnetic properties of van der Waals (vdW) ferromagnet 1T‐CrTe2 are tuned via niobium (Nb) as Cr1‐xNbxTe2 (x = 0–0.2). Nb doping enables wide‐band tuning of the resonance frequency from 40 GHz down to the few‐GHz regime, accompanied by a moderate increase in the Gilbert damping from ∼0.066 to ∼0.14.

Transitory Tidal Heating and Its Impact on Cluster Isochrones
The kinetic energy in tidal flows, when converted into heat, can affect the internal structure of a star and shift its location on a color–magnitude diagram from that of standard models.

Rapid Fabrication of Self‐Propelled and Steerable Magnetic Microcatheters for Precision Medicine
A rapid Joule heating fabrication method for the production of self‐propelling, adaptive microcatheters, with tunable stiffness and integrated microfluidic channels is presented. Demonstrated through three microrobotic designs, including a steerable guiding catheter, an untethered wave‐crawling TubeBot, and a distal‐end propelled microcatheter, it was ...

MOCK OBSERVATIONS OF BLUE STRAGGLERS IN GLOBULAR CLUSTER MODELS [PDF]
We created artificial color-magnitude diagrams of Monte Carlo dynamical models of globular clusters, and then used observational methods to determine the number of blue stragglers in those clusters. We compared these blue stragglers to various cluster properties, mimicking work that has been done for blue stragglers in Milky Way globular clusters to ...
