Photometry of the Globular Cluster NGC 5466: Red Giants and Blue Stragglers
We present wide-field BVI photometry for about 11,500 stars in the low-metallicity cluster NGC 5466. We have detected the red giant branch bump for the first time, although it is at least 0.2 mag fainter than expected relative to the turnoff.

Stellar Populations and Variable Stars in the Core of the Globular Cluster M5 [PDF]
We report the discovery of a variable blue straggler in the core of the globular cluster M5, based on a 12-hour long series of images obtained with the Planetary Camera aboard the Hubble Space Telescope.

Stellar Encounters with Multiple Star Systems and the Blue Straggler Problem [PDF]
We present a technique to identify the most probable dynamical formation scenario for an observed binary or triple system containing one or more merger products or, alternatively, to rule out the possibility of a dynamical origin. Our method relies on an analytic prescription for energy conservation during stellar encounters. With this, observations of

Altermagnetic Band Splitting in 10 nm Epitaxial CrSb Thin Films
Thin film altermagnets are attractive for potential spintronic applications. How thin can we make an altermagnet before quantum confinement perturbs the distinctive band structure? This paper uses angle‐resolved photoemission spectroscopy to show that the canonical g‐wave altermagnet, NiAs‐type CrSb, grown by molecular beam epitaxy, preserves its ...

Beryllium in the Ultra-Lithium-Deficient,Metal-Poor Halo Dwarf, G186-26
The vast majority of low-metal halo dwarfs show a similar amount of Li; this has been attributed to the Li that was produced in the Big Bang. However, there are nine known halo stars with T $>$ 5900 K and [Fe/H] $

Explaining the Praesepe blue straggler HD 73666 [PDF]
The blue straggler phenomenon is not yet well explained by current theory; however, evolutionary models of star clusters call for a good knowledge of it.

Blue stragglers in star clusters and the conventional SSP models [PDF]
AbstractThe presence of blue straggler stars (BSs) as secure members of star clusters poses a major challenge to the conventional picture of simple stellar population (SSP) models. The models are based on the stellar evolution theory of single stars, while the major formation mechanisms of BSs are all correlated with stellar interactions.

The focus on volatile organic compounds (VOCs) detection is dictated by the increasing awareness of their impact on human health. In addition, VOCs are increasingly considered novel for early diagnosis of diseases. Among various types of VOC sensor devices, optical detectors play an essential role, offering excellent versatility, fast response time ...

Blue Stragglers in Globular Clusters: Observations, Statistics and Physics
This chapter explores how we might use the observed {\em statistics} of blue stragglers in globular clusters to shed light on their formation.

The Evolution of Blue Stragglers Formed Via Stellar Collisions [PDF]
We have used the results of recent smoothed particle hydrodynamic simulations of colliding stars to create models appropriate for input into a stellar evolution code.
