Photonic Properties of InAs Quantum Dots by Post‐Growth Maskless Site‐Selective Focused Ion Beam Implantation

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 12, 25 June 2026.
A low‐energy focused ion beam process achieves localized spectral modification of InAs quantum dots. By leveraging low ion straggle and a compact damage volume, this methodology offers unique spatial control and accuracy. This maskless approach provides a scalable platform for site‐selective engineering for advanced photonic integrated circuits and ...

The Hoechst Dye‐Binding RNA Aptamer Recognizes Its Ligand in a Highly Dynamic Fashion

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 27, Issue 11, 15 June 2026.
The Hoechst–RNA aptamer binds a tert‐butyl containing derivative of the Hoechst dye. The study presented here shows that the interactions between the RNA and ligand are highly dynamic with the ligand occupying two overlapping binding sites. The interactions are explored using NMR spectroscopy and time‐resolved fluorescence.

Thermoreflectance Detection of Point Defects Resulting from Focused Ion Beam Milling

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 28, Issue 11, 3 June 2026.
Focused ion beam (FIB) milling is a common tool for nanoscale material processing, however irradiation damage, redeposition, and contamination can occur. We use several characterization tools to show FIB‐induced effects beyond 1 mm from the milled area.

Deterministic Detection of Single Ion Implantation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 28, Issue 11, 3 June 2026.
Focused ion beam implantation with high detection efficiencies will enable the rapid and scalable fabrication of advanced spin‐based technologies such as qubits. This work presents the detection efficiencies of a wide range of ions implanted into solid‐state hosts, with efficiencies of >90% recorded for ion species and substrate combinations of ...

2D Magnetic and Topological Quantum Materials and Devices for Ultralow Power Spintronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 44, 1 June 2026.
2D magnets and topological quantum materials enable ultralow‐power spintronics by combining robust magnetic order with symmetry‐protected, Berry‐curvature‐driven transport. Fundamentals of 2D anisotropy and spin‐orbit‐coupling induced band inversion are linked to scalable growth and vdW stacking.

Beyond Earth: Resilience of Quasi‐2D Perovskite Solar Cells in Space

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 31, 2 June 2026.
In the article (DOI: 10.1002/adma.202520433), Christoph Putz and co‐workers demonstrate rigid quasi‐2D perovskite solar cells operating in low Earth orbit, delivering stable power for more than 100 days under real‐space conditions. In‐orbit performance is correlated with extensive ground‐based thermal and proton‐irradiation studies on rigid and ...

Discovery of an Adaptive Neuroimmune Response Driving Itch and Fast Tick Removal with Implications for Preventing Pathogen Transmission

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 32, 9 June 2026.
Itch‐induced tick removal (IITR): An acquired neuroimmune mechanism, itch‐induced tick removal, develops after repeated tick exposure, mobilizing T cells and macrophages at the tick bite site to trigger a rapid scratching response that facilitates timely tick removal within a critical window that precedes the transmission of many tick‐borne pathogens ...

Nonlinear Strain‐Mediated Magnetoelectric Coupling in Sub‐Microscale Ni/BPZT Thin‐Film Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, Volume 12, Issue 11, 8 June 2026.
Sub‐micrometer Ni/BPZT thin‐film magnetoelectric devices with lateral gates enable localized, low‐voltage strain control of magnetization. By combining anisotropic magnetoresistance, nitrogen‐vacancy magnetometry, multiphysics strain simulations, and micromagnetic modelling, the study quantitatively links ferroelectric strain hysteresis to magnetic ...

Azulene–BODIPY Hybrid Dyes as Non‐Emissive, Wide‐Gamut RGB Colorants for High‐Resolution Color Filters

open access: yesAggregate, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2026.
Non‐emissive azulene–BODIPY hybrid dyes with tunable absorption and superior photothermal stability enable high‐resolution RGB color filters (8.2 µm) with wide‐gamut performance, near‐zero fluorescence, and low color difference (ΔEab < 3). ABSTRACT The pursuit of high‐performance color filters (CFs) for next‐generation displays demands organic dyes ...
