Farmed Escapees Threaten MHC Diversity in Wild Atlantic Salmon
ABSTRACT Wild Atlantic salmon populations in Norway and elsewhere are experiencing long‐term declines driven by reduced marine survival, climate change, impacts from aquaculture, introduction of alien species, and environmental degradation. Understanding how immune diversity is affected by these declines, and thus the ability of Atlantic salmon to ...

Native and Non‐Native Populations Respond Unevenly to River Barrier Removals
While barrier removals restore river connectivity and promote recovery of native populations, they may also facilitate non‐native species, creating a ‘connectivity conundrum’. Using a systematic review and meta‐analysis, we show that both native and non‐native populations can benefit from barrier removal, with outcomes being context‐dependent ...

Understanding Ancient Moose Populations in the Southern Rocky Mountains
ABSTRACT Moose (Alces alces) are an iconic symbol of contemporary Rocky Mountain ecosystems, and their growing abundance in Colorado and other portions of the Southern Rockies has inspired debate around their regional prehistory prior to their 20th century translocation. The Early Holocene biogeography of moose in North America is poorly characterised,

Are All Blue Stragglers Ap Stars?
International Astronomical Union Colloquium, 1976SummaryA list of open clusters with blue stragglers studied for Ap characteristics is presented. In addition to previously published results new spectroscopic data are given of blue stragglers in the open cluster IC 4756 derived from ESO spectrograms taken in 1973. Preliminary conclusions concerning the status of Ap stars and blue stragglers are drawn.

Abundance patterns in unevolved A stars and in blue stragglers
AIP Conference Proceedings, 1995On the basis of high‐resolution spectrometry and NLTE analysis we investigate abundance patterns of non‐nuclear origin in normal main‐sequence A stars and in their metal‐deficient counterparts, the Lambda Bootis stars. We try to identify and separate the effects of diffusion (gravitational settling, radiative levitation) and accretion (separation of ...

Report on the Workshop ''Ecology of Blue Straggler Stars''
2013The last workshop dedicated to blue straggler stars (BSS) took place 20 years ago and there have been a great number of subsequent developments since in both observations and theory. The wide range of BSS topics covered at the workshop are briefly summarised; the published proceedings will form the first book on the subject.

The Formation and Evolution of Blue Straggler Stars in Globular Cluster
2017In Chap. 3, we know binaries already play a important role in stellar interactions. At an early stage, stellar interactions would disrupt most of soft binaries in a SC. However, the hard binaries would survive at this stage and continue with their further evolution, which would finally lead them to merge, resulting in BSS.
