The spectra and ages of blue stragglers
A mechanism similar to Wheeler's quasi-homogeneous evolution and Finzi and Wolf's proposal for blue stragglers is proposed as the origin of the blue stragglers in intermediate-age clusters. Blue stragglers are stars whose positions in color-magnitude diagrams of open and globular clusters are significantly above the turn-off points and in the region of

A fully compensated synthetic antiferromagnet (SAF) multilayer exhibits a uniform state at zero field, without skyrmions. We use a SAF bias system to provide RKKY‐mediated exchange bias to the SAF multilayer, promoting zero‐field skyrmion stabilization and polarity control.

Merger of Noncompact Binaries: Triggering Mechanisms and Merger Timescales of W UMa Contact Binaries
The merger of noncompact binaries can produce a variety of significant celestial objects, including blue stragglers, luminous red novae, and others. However, several key details of the merger of noncompact binaries remain unclear.

The Blue Straggler Star population in NGC6229
We have used a combination of high-resolution Hubble Space Telescope Wide Field Planetary Camera 2 and wide-field ground-based observations in ultraviolet and optical bands to study the blue straggler star (BSS) population of the outer halo globular cluster NGC 6229 over its entire radial extent.

Nonlinear Strain‐Mediated Magnetoelectric Coupling in Sub‐Microscale Ni/BPZT Thin‐Film Devices
Sub‐micrometer Ni/BPZT thin‐film magnetoelectric devices with lateral gates enable localized, low‐voltage strain control of magnetization. By combining anisotropic magnetoresistance, nitrogen‐vacancy magnetometry, multiphysics strain simulations, and micromagnetic modelling, the study quantitatively links ferroelectric strain hysteresis to magnetic ...

Electric Field‐Induced Hole‐ and Electron‐Type Flat Bands in Twisted Double Bilayer Graphene
The electronic structure of twisted double bilayer graphene is visualized using angle‐resolved photoemission spectroscopy with micrometer spatial resolution at twists of 3.1∘$^\circ$ and 6.0∘$^\circ$ as a function of gate voltage. Tunable hybridization effects and flat band formation occurs between valence and conduction band states due to a finite ...

Hidden Figures of Globular Clusters: Integrated Stellar Populations Impacted by Hot Subdwarfs
Globular clusters (GCs) are fundamental for understanding the integrated light of old stellar populations and galaxy assembly processes. However, the role of hot, evolved stars, such as horizontal branch (HB), extreme HB, and blue stragglers, remains ...

Tracing mixing in stars: new beryllium observations of the open clusters NGC 2516, Hyades, and M67
Determinations of beryllium abundance in stars, together with lithium, provide a key tool to investigate the so far poorly understood extra-mixing processes at work in stellar interiors.
