Optimizing Extended Tight‐Binding Methods for Metal‐Surface Interactions

open access: yesChemPhysChem, Volume 26, Issue 23, November 28, 2025.
This work demonstrates how systematic parameter optimization within GFN1‐xTB (Geometry, Frequency, Noncovalent, eXtended Tight‐Binding) framework improves the accuracy of water–metal interaction energies. Using Sobol sensitivity analysis, key parameters are identified and optimized for copper, silver, gold, palladium, and platinum surfaces.

Satellite Imagery Reveals Near‐Horizon Urban Light Emissions Impacting Ambient Environment

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 130, Issue 22, 28 November 2025.
Abstract A novel method has been developed to characterize ground‐based light sources from nighttime satellite imagery. The fraction of light directed toward low elevation angles is determined relative to the total emission into the upper hemisphere. This approach aims to identify locations that exhibit an increased amount of light emission at angles ...

UOCS. IV. Discovery of diverse hot companions to blue stragglers in the old open cluster King 2

Journal of astrophysics and astronomy, 2021
King 2, one of the oldest clusters in the Milky Way, with an age of $$\sim $$ ∼ 6 Gyr and distance of $$\sim $$ ∼ 5700 pc, has been observed with UVIT payload on the AstroSat.

Radial velocities of blue stragglers in M3

Publications of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific, 1983
The authors have obtained 1 A resolution spectra of five blue stragglers in M3 all with mv ≥ 17.3 using the MMT spectrograph and photon-counting Reticon. The spectra cover the range 4580 A to 5450 A, and except for Hβ are devoid of strong features. From measurements of the Hβ lines in the five blue stragglers and three velocity standards the authors ...
