The Blue Straggler F190: A Case for Mass Transfer [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 1992
The blue straggler F190 is a member of the old open cluster M67. We argue that F190 may still be in the final stages of the mass transfer that has made it into a blue straggler. We use the turnoff mass of the cluster and the mass function derived from the spectroscopic orbit for F190 to constrain the masses of each member of the binary, both before ...

2D Magnetic and Topological Quantum Materials and Devices for Ultralow Power Spintronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
2D magnets and topological quantum materials enable ultralow‐power spintronics by combining robust magnetic order with symmetry‐protected, Berry‐curvature‐driven transport. Fundamentals of 2D anisotropy and spin‐orbit‐coupling induced band inversion are linked to scalable growth and vdW stacking.

The Blue Stragglers of the Old Open Cluster NGC 188

open access: yes, 2014
The old (7 Gyr) open cluster NGC 188 has yielded a wealth of astrophysical insight into its rich blue straggler population. Specifically, the NGC 188 blue stragglers are characterized by: A binary frequency of 80% for orbital periods less than $10^4 ...

The blue stragglers of Omega Centauri

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 1986
On a obtenu les spectres 3500-5000 A (resolution 3,6 A) de six candidats. Ils ne presentent aucune caracteristique inhabituelle. les vitesses radiales montrent que ces six vagabondes bleues appartiennent a l'amas.

Emergent Topological Magnons and Thermal Hall Effect in 2D Filling‐Enforced Fully Compensated Ferrimagnets

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Schematic illustration of ferroelectric‐intercalation‐driven transitions in magnetic configurations and magnonic topological phases, together with the symmetry relations of magnonic Berry curvature. ABSTRACT Magnons in collinear magnets with vanishing net magnetization offer unique advantages for spin transport, including ultrafast dynamics and ...

Chemically peculiar candidates in 18 Milky Way globular clusters

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics
Context. Recent discoveries show that chemically peculiar (CP) stars also reside in globular clusters (GCs). The channels leading to chemical peculiarity are, however, still under discussion. Aims.

An Analytic Model for Blue Straggler Formation in Globular Clusters

open access: yes, 2011
We present an analytic model for blue straggler formation in globular clusters. We assume that blue stragglers are formed only through stellar collisions and binary star evolution, and compare our predictions to observed blue straggler numbers taken from

Integrated Field‐Free SOT Domain‐Wall Synapses and MTJ Stochastic Neurons for Hardware Boltzmann Machines

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Field‐free spin‐orbit torque domain‐wall synapses integrated with stochastic MTJ neurons enable compact hardware Boltzmann machines. Leveraging intrinsic stochasticity and multi‐level conductance, the system achieves efficient probabilistic learning with high accuracy, demonstrating a scalable spintronic platform for energy‐efficient edge AI.

Young blue straggler stars in the Galactic field [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2018
In this study we present an analysis of a sample of field blue straggler (BS) stars that show high ultra violet emission in their spectral energy distributions (SED): indication of a hot white dwarf (WD) companion to BS. Using photometry available in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) and Galaxy Evolution Explorer (GALEX ) surveys we identified 80 ...

Exciton Binding Energy of Phosphorescent Emitter Molecules in Organic Light‐Emitting Diodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Energy level alignment is key to efficient OLED design, yet determining LUMO energies remains challenging. A methodology based on field‐induced dissociation and kinetic Monte Carlo simulations is presented to extract LUMO energies of iridium‐based phosphorescent emitters from their exciton binding energy.
