DETECTION OF WHITE DWARF COMPANIONS TO BLUE STRAGGLERS IN THE OPEN CLUSTER NGC 188: DIRECT EVIDENCE FOR RECENT MASS TRANSFER [PDF]
Several possible formation pathways for blue straggler stars have been developed recently, but no one pathway has yet been observationally confirmed for a specific blue straggler.

The Promise of Solid Lubricants for a Sustainable Future
Lubricants are vital for technology, saving energy and resources. The industry seeks sustainable solutions beyond fossil fuels. Solid lubricants offer extremely low friction and reduce environmental impact, especially in harsh conditions. Can these solids truly replace liquid lubricants, or are they limited to extreme applications?

Néel Tensor Torque in Polycrystalline Antiferromagnets
This work introduces a Néel tensor torque based on a rank‐two symmetric tensor capturing spin correlations in a polycrystalline antiferromagnet. It shows the Néel tensor can be shaped and reshaped through the spin‐orbit torque (SOT) technique, enabling field‐free SOT switching with a specific polarity of the adjacent ferromagnet. This discovery opens a

Rapid Fabrication of Self‐Propelled and Steerable Magnetic Microcatheters for Precision Medicine
A rapid Joule heating fabrication method for the production of self‐propelling, adaptive microcatheters, with tunable stiffness and integrated microfluidic channels is presented. Demonstrated through three microrobotic designs, including a steerable guiding catheter, an untethered wave‐crawling TubeBot, and a distal‐end propelled microcatheter, it was ...

Macrophages Mediate Mesoscale Brain Mechanical Homeostasis
We investigated the role of infiltrating immune cells in sculpting the developing brain. Using Brillouin microscopy and active microrheology, we found microglia actively maintain tissue viscoelasticity. Moreover, colony stimulating factor one receptor (CSF1R)‐driven stromal remodeling alters brain mechanics in vivo. These findings link immune activity,

Dynamical age differences among coeval star clusters as revealed by blue stragglers [PDF]
Globular star clusters that formed at the same cosmic time may have evolved rather differently from the dynamical point of view (because that evolution depends on the internal environment) through a variety of processes that tend progressively to ...

A low‐cost, maskless visible light photopatterning system has been developed by combining a consumer‐grade projector with a single Fresnel lens, generating the Fresnel Lens Integrated Projector (FLIP) system. FLIP enables flexible photopatterning of solid and gel films with features down to 30 µm and 135 µm, respectively.

A MEGACAM SURVEY OF OUTER HALO SATELLITES. II. BLUE STRAGGLERS IN THE LOWEST STELLAR DENSITY SYSTEMS [PDF]
We present a homogeneous study of blue straggler stars across 10 outer halo globular clusters, 3 classical dwarf spheroidal galaxies, and 9 ultra-faint galaxies based on deep and wide-field photometric data taken with MegaCam on the Canada–France–Hawaii ...
