Detailed simulations of plasma-induced spectral blueshifting

Physical Review A, 1992
A one-dimensional model, including pulse propagation and detailed ionization dynamics, is developed in order to calculate the spectrum of an intense femtosecond laser pulse transmitted through an atmospheric-density noble gas. The spectrum is broadened and blueshifted due to self-phase-modulation resulting from a combination of optical-field-induced ...

On the Nature of Blueshifting Hydrogen Bonds

Chemistry – A European Journal, 2014
AbstractThe block‐localized wave function (BLW) method can derive the energetic, geometrical, and spectral changes with the deactivation of electron delocalization, and thus provide a unique way to elucidate the origin of improper, blueshifting hydrogen bonds versus proper, redshifting hydrogen bonds.

Observable blueshifts near compact objects

Astrophysics and Space Science, 1982
We show that observable blueshifted radiation can emanate from material freely falling toward compact objects. Using a fully relativistic treatment and considering possible blocking of photon trajectories by a neutron star or black hole, we demonstrate that blueshifts are observable.
