In the application of a body area network in medical healthcare, the process of receiving, archiving, and analyzing multibiosignals simultaneously from different devices for each body is very important. For example, to diagnose sleep apnea symptoms, a patient must sleep with dozens of devices, including electroencephalography (EEG), electrocardiogram ...

Maximum Power Plus RSSI Based Routing Protocol for Bluetooth Low Energy Ad Hoc Networks
This paper proposes a novel energy‐conserving multihop routing protocol to maximize network lifetime and consume the battery in a distributed manner during route discovery in energy‐constrained Bluetooth Low Energy ad hoc networks. Furthermore, a flooding avoidance approach is adopted by the proposed scheme to minimize the number of route request ...

BGN: A Novel Scatternet Formation Algorithm for Bluetooth‐Based Sensor Networks
To address the unreliability and inefficiency of the existing algorithms for Bluetooth scatternet formation, this paper proposes a new efficient algorithm, Bluetooth Growing Network (BGN) algorithm, which constructs Bluetooth scatternet by adding reserve links among its branch nodes so that the resulting scatternet can maintain a high degree of ...

Improving Sensing Accuracy in Cognitive PANs through Modulation of Sensing Probability
Cognitive radio technology necessitates accurate and timely sensing of primary users′ activity on the chosen set of channels. The simplest selection procedure is a simple random choice of channels to be sensed, but the impact of sensing errors with respect to primary user activity or inactivity differs considerably. In order to improve sensing accuracy

Introducing Service Differentiation in a Bluetooth Piconet [PDF]
In this paper, we focus on the Bluetooth wireless network, analyzing its ability to support Quality of Service (QoS) requirements defined by the application. We focus on two QoS parameters : (i) an application constraint denoting the importance degree of a message, and (ii) an end-to-end delivery deadline.

Enabling Cognitive Load‐Aware AR with Rateless Coding on a Wearable Network
Augmented reality (AR) on a head‐mounted display is conveniently supported by a wearable wireless network. If, in addition, the AR display is moderated to take account of the cognitive load of the wearer, then additional biosensors form part of the network. In this paper, the impact of these additional traffic sources is assessed.

Bluetooth: Opening a Blue Sky for Healthcare
Over the last few years, there has been a blossoming of developing mobile healthcare programs. Bluetooth technology, which has the advantages of being low‐power and inexpensive, whilst being able to transfer moderate amounts of data over a versatile, robust and secure radio link, has been widely applied in mobile healthcare as a replacement for cables.
