Turbulence Modification by Superhydrophobic Bluff Body
This paper investigates the impact of superhydrophobicity on turbulent flow characteristics, drag force, and lift forcethrough numerical simulations. A superhydrophobicity boundary condition is implemented on the surface of a sphere, altering the fluid-solid interaction, and introducing air pockets within the superhydrophobic texture.

Experimental Study on Bluff-Body Stabilized Premixed Flame with a Central Air/Fuel Jet
Bluff-body flame holders are commonly employed in many industrial applications. A bluff-body is usually adopted to enhance the downstream mixing of the combustion products and the fresh fuel-air mixtures, thus to improve the flame stability and to ...

Biomimetic bluff body drag reduction by self-adaptive porous flaps [PDF]
The performances of an original passive control system based on a biomimetic approach are assessed by investigating the flow over a bluff-body. This control device consists in a couple of flaps made from the combination of a rigid plastic skeleton coated

On the relationship between the vortex formation process and cylinder wake vortex patterns [PDF]
The idea of vortex formation time, originally developed for vortex ring formation, is extended to bluff-body flows. Effects related to characteristic vortex formation time are shown for both the cylinder starting from rest and the cylinder undergoing ...

Joint experimental and numerical study of the influence of flame holder temperature on the stabilization of a laminar methane flame on a cylinder [PDF]
The mechanisms controlling laminar flame anchoring on a cylindrical bluff-body are investigated using DNS and experiments. Two configurations are examined: water-cooled and uncooled steel cylinders.

Fast Fluid Dynamics Simulation of the Airflow Around a Single Bluff Body [PDF]
Fast and accurate simulation of the outdoor airflow distribution is important for studying urban microclimate. In this paper, two pressure-correction schemes (i.e., NIPC and NSPF) for solving the N-S equation item by item are implemented in OpenFOAM and ...
