Application of Noise2Inverse and adaptation (Noise2Phase) to single‐mask x‐ray phase contrast micro‐computed tomography

open access: yesJournal of Microscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract X‐ray phase contrast imaging (XPCI), when implemented in micro‐computed tomography (micro‐CT) mode, offers high‐contrast 3D imaging of weakly‐attenuating material samples. In the so‐called single‐mask edge illumination approach, a mask with periodically spaced transmitting apertures is used to split the x‐ray beam into narrow beamlets; when ...

On optimisation of Paganin's method for propagation‐based X‐ray phase‐contrast imaging and tomography

open access: yesJournal of Microscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Paganin's method for image reconstruction in propagation‐based phase‐contrast X‐ray imaging and tomography has enjoyed broad acceptance in recent years, with over one thousand publications citing its use. The present paper discusses approaches to optimisation of the method with respect to simple image quality metrics, such as signal‐to‐noise ...

Dynamical simulation of on‐axis transmission Kikuchi and spot diffraction patterns, based on accurate diffraction geometry calibration

open access: yesJournal of Microscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Transmission Kikuchi diffraction in the scanning electron microscope has gained popularity as a materials characterisation technique for its high throughput and nanometre‐level spatial resolution. While conventional diffraction pattern analysis routines focus on Kikuchi bands on the diffraction patterns, the full physical picture of electron ...

Entangled Foodways and Livelihood Pathways: Cinnamon, State Interventions, and Everyday Life in Hmong Communities of Northern Vietnam

open access: yesJournal of Agrarian Change, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The agroecological practices of ethnic minority farmers in Vietnam's northern uplands are being reshaped by intersecting pressures of land‐use reform, market integration, and state‐backed crop promotion. Among Hmong communities in the south of Lào Cai Province (former Yên Bái Province) cinnamon was once valued primarily for its medicinal ...

Do robots boost productivity? A quantitative meta‐study

open access: yesJournal of Economic Surveys, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This meta‐study analyzes the productivity effects of industrial robots. More than 1800 estimates from 85 primary studies are collected. The meta‐analytic evidence suggests that robotization has so far provided, at best, a small boost to productivity. There is strong evidence of publication bias in the positive direction.

Strategies for Legitimizing Regeneration in Supply Chain Fields

open access: yesJournal of Supply Chain Management, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In view of escalating environmental degradation, regenerative business has been proposed to restore social–ecological systems. However, as regeneration fundamentally departs from mainstream approaches and lacks commonly accepted standards, it suffers from a liability of newness that hampers its broader legitimation and adoption.
