Journal of Ultrastructure Research, 1970
The epidermis of the boa constrictor (Constrictor constrictor) has five histologically distinct strata. Ultrastructurally these mature in one of two patterns. The mesos, alpha, lacunar, and clear strata resemble in their ultrastructural maturation, the external root sheath of the hair below where there is keratohyalin. The mature alpha and clear strata

Blood chemical values of the common boa constrictor (Constrictor constrictor)
American Journal of Veterinary Research, 1982SUMMARY Reference values of 24 serum constituents in 5 boa constrictors (Constrictor constrictor) were determined under fasting conditions. After feeding, serum uric acid, cholesterol, carbon dioxide, and triglyceride values increased. These values decreased to fasting values within 6 days.

BILATERALLY SYMMETRICAL ORAL AMELANOTIC MELANOMA IN A BOA CONSTRICTOR (BOA CONSTRICTOR CONSTRICTOR)
Journal of Zoo and Wildlife Medicine, 2015A 17-yr-old boa constrictor (Boa constrictor constrictor) presented initially with diffuse gingival swelling, loose teeth, and loss of body condition. Examination under anesthesia revealed two firm pink masses within the oral cavity. The largest mass was removed for biopsy.

Experimental Study of Induced Inflammation in the Brazilian Boa (Boa constrictor constrictor)
Journal of Comparative Pathology, 2001The objective of this work was to identify the cellular types present in inflammatory processes in the Brazilian snake, Boa constrictor constrictor. Blood smears were first made from three normal snakes and stained by several methods to identify the cell types present, thus facilitating the identification of cells in inflammatory processes induced in ...

Hemoglobins of Boa constrictor amarali
Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Comparative Biochemistry, 1976Abstract 1. 1. Hemoglobin polymorphism has been demonstrated in populations of Boa constrictor amarali in South America (Schwantes, 1972). The oxygen-binding properties of the two major hemoglobin phenotypes, denoted Boa Hb SS and Boa Hb SF, show only minor functional differences. 2. 2.

Tongue movements in the common boa (Constrictor constrictor)
Animal Behaviour, 1972Abstract Tongue movements were studied in Contsrictor constrictor by direct observation and by analysis of motion pictures. Vertical tongue movements consisted of an invariant sequence of protrusion, oscillation up and down, and retraction. Lateral deviation of the tongue occurred only in the company of vertical movements and was correlated with the ...

Renal Styphlodoriasis in a Boa Constrictor
Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, 1977SUMMARY Renal styphlodoriasis was diagnosed in a 2½-year-old male boa constrictor (Constrictor constrictor). The snake had been anorexic for 6 months prior to its death. Necropsy revealed numerous hard, white foci of mineralization in the kidneys.
