Assessment of sperm quality traits in relation to fertility in boar semen [PDF]
Several studies have been published where sperm plasma membrane integrity correlated to fertility. In this study we describe a simple fluorometer-based assay where we monitored the fluorescence intensity of artificially membrane-ruptured spermatozoa with a fixed time staining with fluorescent DNA dyes.Membrane-impermeant fluorescent dyes Hoechst 33258 (

ABSTRACT This paper analyses how large Swedish firms and financial institutions integrate climate change and biodiversity into their business strategies and governance structures. Using unique 2022 and 2023 survey data and logistic probability models, we examine how internal and external factors shape early responses to the EU Taxonomy and the CSRD ...

Preventing wild boar "Sus scrofa" damage - considerations for wild boar management in highly fragmented agroecosystems [PDF]
During the last three decades wild boar populations have grown rapidly and the range of the species has increased steadily, covering almost the whole European continent today.

Predator–prey interactions can trigger behavioural responses in ungulates, influencing their space‐use and foraging behaviour and, in turn, indirectly affecting browsing pressure. Changes in browsing pressure can affect plant recruitment and species composition, shaping forest regeneration through predator‐mediated trophic cascades.

Low-Cost QCM Sensor System for Screening Semen Samples [PDF]
Artificial insemination is a well-established part of modern agricultural practice. A viable semen sample is judged by the total number of spermatozoa (sperm) in the sample and the motility of the sperm.

Influence of Season on the Quantity and Quality of Boar Semen
One of the factors that may affect the fecundate ability of a boar is temperature. Similarly decreased fertility of sows, also boars have a significant reduction in the quantity and quality of semen during the heating season, compared to ejaculate produced during the cold season.

Semen quality and quantity in a boar with a complex hydrocele
This case report concerns a 3.5-year-old Duroc boar with an enlargement of the left hemiscrotum. Sonography revealed multiple hypoechogenic cavities around the testis, indicating a complex hydrocele. An infectious origin of the hydrocele was excluded by laboratory tests.

Effect of Propylparaben on In Vitro Maturation of Porcine Oocytes and Embryo Development
ABSTRACT Parabens are synthetic chemicals that, due to their antibacterial and fungicidal effects, are widely used as preservatives in food, cosmetics, and personal care products, such as shampoos, hair conditioners, body creams, soaps, deodorants, makeup, wet wipes, lotions, female hygiene products, and vaginal lubricants. Several years ago, they were

Lowering Sperm Dose Rates in Frozen Semen for Bovine Artificial Breeding [PDF]
The New Zealand Dairy industry relies on artificial breeding to produce high genetic merit replacement stock. Proven bull semen is extended and preserved as either ambient temperature product or as frozen doses.

Bacterial contamination of boar semen occurs with some frequency in artificial insemination centers and may have a negative effect on the quality of the semen as well as on the sows’ reproductive capacity.
