Immune Checkpoint Inhibitor Related Myositis and Associated Triad Overlap Syndrome

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective Immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) myositis is a rare but highly morbid condition, particularly with the ICI myositis triad syndrome of myositis, myocarditis, and myasthenia gravis. We report the clinical characteristics of ICI myositis and all‐cause mortality in these patients.

The Tilted Self: Visuo-Graviceptive Mismatch in the Full-Body Illusion

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology, 2019
The bodily self is a fundamental part of human self-consciousness and relies on online multimodal information and prior beliefs about one's own body. While the contribution of the vestibular system in this process remains under-investigated, it has been ...

Waking up to the Present: Vipassana Meditation and the Body [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Using ethnographic methods I examine the process of learning vipassana meditation, a form of meditation in which the practitioner focuses on their bodily sensations, and the ways in which learning this form of meditation affects the practitioner\u27s ...

3D‐Printed Serial Snap‐Through Architectures for Programmable Mechanical Response

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A serial snap‐through architecture is realized using compact 3D‐printed von Mises truss units arranged in a staged cascade. Their geometry and boundary conditions program multistage mechanical responses with plateaux and re‐hardening regimes. An inverted‐compliance model predicts these behaviors and enables analytical design of programmable force ...

Complex Cryptographic and User‐Centric Physically Unclonable Functions Enabled by Strain‐Sensitive Nanocrystals via Selective Ligand Exchange

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates electromechanical PUFs that improve on traditional electric PUFs. The electron transport materials are coated randomly through selective ligand exchange. It produces multiple keys and a key with motion dependent on percolation and strain, and approaches almost ideal inter‐ and intra‐hamming distances.

Microplastics from Wearable Bioelectronic Devices: Sources, Risks, and Sustainable Solutions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bioelectronic devices (e.g., e‐skins) heavily rely on polymers that at the end of their life cycle will generate microplastics. For research, a holistic approach to viewing the full impact of such devices cannot be overlooked. The potential for devices as sources for microplastics is raised, with mitigation strategies surrounding polysaccharide and ...

SARTRE ON BODILY TRANSPARENCY

open access: yesManuscrito
Sartre’s obscure but evocative remarks on bodily awareness have often been cited, but, I argue, they have rarely been understood. This paper aims to bring the connection between Sartre's views on bodily awareness and his more general distinction between “

Integrative Approaches for DNA Sequence‐Controlled Functional Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DNA is emerging as a programmable building block for functional materials with applications in biomimicry, biochemical, and mechanical information processing. The integration of simulations, experiments, and machine learning is explored as a means to bridge DNA sequences with macroscopic material properties, highlighting current advances and providing ...
