Ultrahigh-accuracy body-pointing system for the Large Space Telescope
Journal of Spacecraft and Rockets, 1976The Large Space Telescope (LST) is a 3-m diffraction-limited telescope. Pointing stability requirements necessary to assure diffraction-limited images are plus or minus 0.005 arc-sec, over possible experiment observation times of several hours. In order to determine whether these stringent pointing requirements could be met, a complex simulation model ...

Whole body pointing movements in transient microgravity: preliminary results.
Journal of gravitational physiology : a journal of the International Society for Gravitational Physiology, 2004The aim of the present study is a better comprehension of strategies of motor coordination during complex movements. In this field of research microgravity represent a unique experimental condition for the investigation of the role of equilibrium control in movement planning. Namely, here we focus on two important issues: the centre of mass control and

Geometry of motion of a single elastic body point
Journal of Mathematical Physics, 1978A four-dimensional space LX̂, in which body point X̂ of a simple elastic body describes a geodesic line during the process of deformation, is constructed. It is shown that LX̂is a torsion-free non-Riemannian space. The structure of LX̂ is examined for universal dynamical solutions for incompressible elastic bodies.

Atomic resonances from a many-body point of view
Journal of Physics B: Atomic and Molecular Physics, 1970For pt. I see ibid. vol. 3, no. 4, p. 455 (1970). The author derived the Fano formula with generalized parameters using many-body perturbation theory. In this paper he applies the theory, in the lowest order, to helium. For the 2s2p 1P resonance a rough estimate gives a value for the (dynamical) dipole matrix element within twenty per cent of the ...

Pre-anesthetic Whole Body Point-of-care Ultrasonography.
Masui. The Japanese journal of anesthesiology, 2018Point-of-care ultrasonography has become widely used in diagnosis and managements of patients. In the field of anesthesiology, ultrasound guided nerve blocks and central venous catheterization (CVC), and transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) have become popular. Now, ultrasound devices are familiar to anesthesiologists.

Effect of fatigue on the precision of a whole-body pointing task
Neuroscience, 2006We addressed the issue of the possible degradation of the aiming precision of a whole-body pointing task, when movement coordination is deranged by selective fatigue of the postural task component. The protocol involved continuous repetition (0.1 Hz frequency) of rapid whole-body pointing trials toward a target located beyond arm length, starting from ...

Dynamically Coupled Rigid Body+Point Vortices in $$\mathbb {R}^2$$
2021In this chapter, the extension of the planar Kirchhoff model by the addition of point vortices is discussed. The problem may also be considered as an extension of a problem considered by C. C. Lin—N vortices interacting in the presence of stationary rigid boundaries. This problem is discussed first.

Iterative solution for rigid-body point-based registration with anisotropic weighting
SPIE Proceedings, 2009Rigid-body, point-based registration is commonly used for image-guided systems. Fiducial markers that can be localized in image and physical space are attached to patient anatomy. The fiducial marker locations in the two spaces are used to obtain the physical-to-image registration.

Modulation of anticipatory postural activity for multiple conditions of a whole-body pointing task
Neuroscience, 2012This is a study on associated postural activities during the anticipatory segments of a multijoint movement. Several previous studies have shown that they are task dependant. The previous studies, however, have mostly been limited in demonstrating the presence of modulation for one task condition, that is, one aspect such as the distance of the target ...

Representative Body Points on Top-View Depth Sequences for Daily Activity Recognition
2015 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, 2015In this paper, a novel feature for activity recognition from vertical top-view depth image sequences is firstly proposed. Most of previous works are focusing mainly on the side-view depth or color image sequences, which unfortunately may encounter occlusion problems. Therefore, top-view camera setting is adopted in our research.
