Robust Spot Melting by 3D Spot Arrangements in Electron Beam Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work proposes an approach to replace separately melted contours for spot melting in electron beam powder fusion. Adapting the spot arrangements close to the contour combined with stacking yields a comparable surface quality without the inherent challenges of separate contours, as demonstrated, by electron optical images and roughness measurements.

Parameter Variation in Planetary Ball Milling of Titanium Aluminide Powder in XHV‐Adequate Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates the effects of milling parameters, including rotational speed, milling duration, and ball‐to‐powder ratio, on TiAl particle size and morphology in an XHV‐equivalent atmosphere. The creation of oxide‐free surfaces enhances the mechanical properties of green bodies.

Balancing bodies

Practical Pre-School, 2011
In the second of the series, Sue Sunderland and Olwyn Maurer explain how movement can help meet the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage, this time focussing on knowledge and understanding of the world.

Fatigue effects on body balance

Electroencephalography and Clinical Neurophysiology/Electromyography and Motor Control, 1997
Body sway variables (sway area and sway path) were recorded by a dynamometric platform in 13 young subjects, standing quiet with feet together, with eyes open (EO) and eyes closed (EC), prior to and following two types of physical exercise (treadmill walking and cycle ergometer pedalling).

Field Dependence and Body Balance

Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1990
This study reports four points about the portable Rod and Frame Test performance of 30 Japanese women in terms of body balance. The primary findings using a stabilometer are: (a) field dependence correlated negatively with increased sway path within 1 min. both while a dot pattern as a visual stimulus was stationary and while it was moving.

Body Balance Activity and Perception

Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1963
Thirty-five Ss were tested on a specially constructed force platform for body balance activity resulting from visual perceptions of 10 simple line drawings. No relationship was found between direction of movement on the platform and the direction depicted by the line drawings.
