Smooth solutions for motion of a rigid body of general form in an incompressible perfect fluid [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
In this paper, we consider the interactions between a rigid body of general form and the incompressible perfect fluid surrounding it. Local well-posedness in the space $C([0, T); H_s)$ is obtained for the fluid-rigid body system.

Analysis of Diagnostic Value of Cytological Smear Method Versus Cell Block Method in Body Fluid Cytology: Study of 150 Cases

open access: yesEthiopian Journal of Health Sciences, 2014
Background Aspiration of serous cavities is a simple and relatively non-invasive technique to achieve diagnosis. Cytologic evaluation of body cavity fluid is diagnostically challenging.

Inhibitor of DNA binding‐1 is a key regulator of cancer cell vasculogenic mimicry

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Elevated expression of transcriptional regulator inhibitor of DNA binding 1 (ID1) promoted cancer cell‐mediated vasculogenic mimicry (VM) through regulation of pro‐angiogenic and pro‐cancerous genes (e.g. VE‐cadherin (CDH5), TIE2, MMP9, DKK1). Higher ID1 expression also increased metastases to the lung and the liver.

On the motion of rigid bodies in a perfect fluid [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
We consider the problem of motion of several rigid bodies immersed in a perfect compressible fluid. Using the method of convex integration we establish the existence of infinitely many weak solutions with {\it a priori} prescribed motion of rigid bodies.

Loss of proton‐sensing GPR4 reduces tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
G protein‐coupled receptor 4 (GPR4) is a pH‐sensing receptor activated by acidic pH. GPR4 expression is increased in patients with inflammatory bowel disease who are at high risk of developing colorectal cancer. In mouse models, loss of GPR4 attenuated tumor progression. This correlated with increased IL2 and natural killer cell activity.

Lp-strong solution to fluid-rigid body interaction system with Navier slip boundary condition [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
We study a fluid-structure interaction problem describing movement of a rigid body inside a bounded domain filled by a viscous fluid. The fluid is modelled by the generalized incompressible Naiver-Stokes equations which include cases of Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids.

Genomics‐led approach to drug testing in models of undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
GA text Genomic data from undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma patients and preclinical models were used to inform a targeted drug screen. Selected compounds were tested in 2D and 3D cultures of UPS cell lines. A combination of trametinib and infigratinib was synergistic in the majority of UPS cell lines tested, which was further confirmed in an ex ...

Simultaneous inhibition of TRIM24 and TRIM28 sensitises prostate cancer cells to antiandrogen therapy, decreasing VEGF signalling and angiogenesis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
TRIM24 and TRIM28 are androgen receptor (AR) coregulators which exhibit increased expression with cancer progression. Both TRIM24 and TRIM28 combine to influence the response of castrate‐resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) cells to AR inhibitors by mediating AR signalling, regulation of MYC and upregulating VEGF to promote angiogenesis. Castrate‐resistant

A Prenylated Xanthone, Cudratricusxanthone A, Isolated from Cudrania tricuspidata Inhibits Lipopolysaccharide-Induced Neuroinflammation through Inhibition of NF-κB and p38 MAPK Pathways in BV2 Microglia

open access: yesMolecules, 2016
Cudrania tricuspidata Bureau (Moraceae) is an important source of traditional Korean and Chinese medicines used to treat neuritis and inflammation. Cudratricusxanthone A (1), a prenylated xanthone, isolated from C.

Solubility and Body Fluids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Solubility phenomena (i.e. dissolution and precipitation reactions) are the physicochemical basis of numerous biological processes. These include, for instance: • gas solubilities in respiratory and photosynthetic processes; the solubility of volatile anaesthetics; • the crystallisation, both in biologically controlled and pathological processes, of ...
