Dimensionality of the Body-Image: The Body-Image Questionnaire

A body-image questionnaire was administered to 619 French subjects between the ages of 10 and 40 yr. A principal factor analysis of item correlations yielded four meaningful factors. Some of them are associated with personality traits of the Eysenck Personality Inventory, age, and sex.

Body Image of Murderers

Summary It was predicted that murderers would differ in their body-image boundary dimensions from attempted suicides. It was found that the murderers obtained lower barrier scores, which was in opposition to the prediction, and lower penetration scores, which was in agreement with the prediction. Overall, therefore, the prediction was not supported.

Abstract Osgood's semantic differential was used on 340 subjects to determine their body image as compared to their concept of the Ideal American woman. Women who were not pregnant as well as women in the first, second and third trimester were tested. The husbands of the women were also tested.
