Summary It was predicted that murderers would differ in their body-image boundary dimensions from attempted suicides. It was found that the murderers obtained lower barrier scores, which was in opposition to the prediction, and lower penetration scores, which was in agreement with the prediction. Abstract Osgood's semantic differential was used on 340 subjects to determine their body image as compared to their concept of the Ideal American woman. Women who were not pregnant as well as women in the first, second and third trimester were tested. The husbands of the women were also tested.
