On Kite Central Configurations [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
We study kite central configurations in the Newtonian four-body problem. We present a new proof that there exists a unique convex kite central configuration for a given choice of positive masses and a particular ordering of the bodies. Our proof uses tools from differential topology (e.g., the Poincar\'{e}-Hopf Index Theorem) and computational ...

Novel CT radiomics models for the postoperative prediction of early recurrence of resectable pancreatic adenocarcinoma: A single‐center retrospective study in China

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose To assess the predictive capability of CT radiomics features for early recurrence (ER) of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Methods Postoperative PDAC patients were retrospectively selected, all of whom had undergone preoperative CT imaging and surgery. Both patients with resectable or borderline‐resectable pancreatic cancer met

Investigation of the Uniformity of Gel Shrinkage by Imaging Tracer Particles Using X‐Ray Microtomography

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView., 2023
A novel method for tracking structural changes in gels using widely accessible microcomputed tomography is presented and validated for various hydro‐, alco‐, and aerogels. The core idea of the method is to track positions of micrometer‐sized tracer particles entrapped in the gel and relate them to the density of the gel network.

An investigation into the feasibility and efficacy of stereotactic radiosurgery for 1–3 cm single brain lesions on the ring‐mounted Halcyon LINAC

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose An evaluation of the accuracy, safety, and efficiency of the Halcyon ring delivery system (RDS) for stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) treatment to relatively small (1–3 cm) brain lesions. Methods After completing the extensive in‐house quality assurance checks including Winston–Lutz test and independent dose verification via MD Anderson ...

The problem of optimal camouflaging [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
We consider the problem of camouflaging for bodies with specular surface in the framework of geometric optics. The index of visibility introduced in [Plakhov 2017] measures the mean deviation of light rays incident on the body's surface. We study the problem of minimal visibility index for bodies with fixed volume contained in the unit sphere.

AAPM Task Group No. 249.B—Essentials and guidelines for clinical medical physics residency training program

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract The establishment of guidelines and curriculum standards for medical physics residency training is a critical component of setting expectations and competencies for the profession. Since the last publication of these standards, residency training has become integrated into the eligibility criteria for most medical physics certification bodies.

Role of body mass index on physical fitness index in two [PDF]

open access: yesAl Ameen Journal of Medical Sciences, 2008
The body mass index (BMI) is an index of weight adjusted for hieght. It is one of the useful tools for diagnosing obesity or malnutrition; however, such diagnosis should take into account a person's age, gender, fitness, and ethnicity.
