Tactile Pattern Recognition and Body Loci
Perception, 1973Experimentation was conducted to compare tactile pattern recognition on three body loci—back, abdomen, and inner thigh. Five blind subjects, experienced users of a tactile vision substitution system which displays images picked up by a television camera through patterns of vibratory stimulation on the skin, were asked to identify letter images ...

Rigid body constrained noisy point pattern matching
IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, 1995Noisy pattern matching problems arise in many areas, e.g., computational vision, robotics, guidance and control, stereophotogrammetry, astronomy, genetics, and high-energy physics. Least-squares pattern matching over the Euclidean space E(n) for unordered sets of cardinalities p and q is commonly formulated as a combinatorial optimization problem ...

Body asymmetry and intellectual pattern
Personality and Individual Differences, 1994Young men and women who had made self-inspections of direction of testicular-or breast-size asymmetry, were evaluated on a battery of cognitive tests. Tests were categorized as Masculine (generally performed better by men), Feminine (better by women), or Neutral (favouring neither).

Body radiation patterns of singing voices
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2012Most musical instruments exhibit complex patterns of sound radiation, which change with direction, played pitch, and many other factors. The same holds true for the body of a singer, regarded as an instrument, singing with her or his voice but activating also parts of the chest, neck, face, etc.

How were vendobiont bodies patterned?
Paleobiology, 2001It is difficult to assign the animal-like body fossils of the late Neoproterozoic to crown metazoan phyla. Many Neoproterozoic fossils appear to share an architectural theme, which was characterized by Seilacher (1984, 1989) as modular; he noted that the modules, named pneus, could be arranged in a series of distinctive geometries to produce many of ...

Limb-body wall complex: a compound anomaly pattern in body-wall defects
Pediatric Surgery International, 2001Our presentation of four cases demonstrates the essential features of limb-body wall complex (LBWC), representing a compound anomaly pattern in body-wall defects. The diagnosis of this entity is based on two of the three following characteristics: (1) exencephaly/encephalocele and facial clefts; (2) thoraco- and/or abdominoschisis; and (3) limb defects.

Body Mass Index and Menstrual Patterns in Dancers
Clinical Pediatrics, 2016Questionnaires were distributed to investigate body mass index (BMI) and menstrual patterns in female dancers aged 12 to 17 years. The study cohort consisted of 105 dancers, mean age 14.8 ± 1.1 years, and mean BMI 19.5 ± 2.3 kg/m2. In all, 92% were healthy weight for height. First menses age ranged from 10 to 15 years (mean 12.9 ± 1.1 years).

Generation of Whole Body Motion Patterns
2014In this Chapter we will explain how you generate whole body motion patterns for a humanoid robot. There is a lot of ongoing research in this area and the ultimate method is still yet to be created. So therefore we will simply introduce examples that are being used today.

The Evolution of Trilobite Body Patterning
Annual Review of Earth and Planetary Sciences, 2007The good fossil record of trilobite exoskeletal anatomy and ontogeny, coupled with information on their nonbiomineralized tissues, permits analysis of how the trilobite body was organized and developed, and the various evolutionary modifications of such patterning within the group.
