Jumping Robot with Initial Body Posture Adjustment and a Self-Righting Mechanism

open access: yesInternational Journal of Advanced Robotic Systems, 2016
To improve jumping performance, this paper presents a jumping robot with initial body posture adjustment and a self-righting mechanism. A segmental gear, stretching and triggering a spring for the storage and rapid release of energy, is used for the ...

Clinical measures of foot posture and ankle joint dorsiflexion do not differ in adults with and without plantar heel pain

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Foot posture and ankle joint dorsiflexion have long been proposed to be risk factors for plantar heel pain, however body mass may be a confounder when investigating these factors.

To buzz or not to buzz: improving awareness of posture through vibrotactile feedback [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The iPosture' is a commercially available device which claims to improve posture. It is designed to deliver a vibrotactile buzz if the wearer slouches. We present the finding of a preliminary study evaluating the user experience of wearing it.

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

Perception of biological motion from size-invariant body representations

open access: yes, 2015
The visual recognition of action is one of the socially most important and computationally demanding capacities of the human visual system. It combines visual shape recognition with complex non-rigid motion perception.

"What women like": influence of motion and form on esthetic body perception. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Several studies have shown the distinct contribution of motion and form to the esthetic evaluation of female bodies. Here, we investigated how variations of implied motion and body size interact in the esthetic evaluation of female and male bodies in a ...

Body mass index modulates postural proteinuria

open access: yesInternational Urology and Nephrology, 2009
Dear Sir, In contrast to constant proteinuria, postural proteinuria has been generally regarded as a benign condition [1–4]. However, anecdotal observations suggest that postural proteinuria might sometimes reflect incipient kidney disease [5, 6].

Glycosylated LGALS3BP is highly secreted by bladder cancer cells and represents a novel urinary disease biomarker

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Urinary LGALS3BP is elevated in bladder cancer patients compared to healthy controls as detected by the 1959 antibody–based ELISA. The antibody shows enhanced reactivity to the high‐mannose glycosylated variant secreted by cancer cells treated with kifunensine (KIF).

Sleeping posture recognition using fuzzy c-means algorithm

open access: yesBioMedical Engineering OnLine, 2018
Background Pressure sensors have been used for sleeping posture detection, which meet privacy requirements. Most of the existing techniques for sleeping posture recognition used force-sensitive resistor (FSR) sensors.

Monitoring of circulating tumor DNA allows early detection of disease relapse in patients with operable breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Monitoring circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in patients with operable breast cancer can reveal disease relapse earlier than radiology in a subset of patients. The failure to detect ctDNA in some patients with recurrent disease suggests that ctDNA could serve as a supplement to other monitoring approaches.
