Development of Perceived Body Size and Dieting Awareness in Young Girls

Perceptual and Motor Skills, 2004
To examine longitudinally figure-rating preferences and dieting awareness in young girls a sample of 40 Australian girls, ages 5 to 7 years ( M = 6.5, SD = 0.9), were recruited from two single-sex private schools in Adelaide. Girls were tested at both Time 1 (mid 2002) and Time 2 (late 2003), approximately 16 months apart.

The effect of alcohol on body size discrepancy and self-awareness in young women

Addictive Behaviors, 2007
Research has repeatedly verified high co-prevalence rates for bulimia and alcohol abuse. Two heuristics may help explain this co-occurrence. The self-inflation component of Steele and Josephs' myopia model has been evaluated and results have indicated that alcohol consumption results in decreased self-discrepancy.

LidarGait++: Learning Local Features and Size Awareness from LiDAR Point Clouds for 3D Gait Recognition

Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition
Point clouds have gained growing interest in gait recognition. However, current methods, which typically convert point clouds into 3D voxels, often fail to extract essential gait-specific features.

Alice in Wonderland: The effects of body size and movement on children’s size perception and bodily awareness in virtual reality

2020
In adults, illusory embodiment of a virtual avatar can be induced using synchronous visuomotor cues. Further, embodying different-sized avatars influences adults’ perception of their environment’s size. This study (N=92) investigated whether children are also susceptible to such embodiment and size illusions.
