Optimal Control of Time-Dependent Heat and Electromagnetic Energy Transfer in Selfdriven Coolers [PDF]
The complex time-dependent heat and electromagnetic energy transfer in a new type of cooling system is analyzed. The system consists of a cold body, a Peltier element and an electric circuit containing an inductor with controllable inductance. This system allows cooling a body below the ambient temperature without using an external reservoir of ...

Inelastic Collisions of a Fermi Gas in the BEC-BCS Crossover [PDF]
We report the measurement of inelastic three-body and two-body collisional decay rates for a two-component Fermi gas of $^6$Li, which are highly suppressed by the Pauli exclusion principle. Our measurements are made in the BEC-BCS crossover regime, near the two-body collisional (Feshbach) resonance.

Numerical Evidence Invalidating Finite-Temperature Many-Body Perturbation Theory
Low-order perturbation corrections to the electronic grand potential, internal energy, chemical potential, and entropy of a gas of noninteracting, identical molecules at a nonzero temperature are determined numerically as the $\lambda$-derivatives of the

Is there a fever phobia present in parents of young children?
Background: Fever is one of the most common reasons for parents to seek medical attention for their child. Parents are commonly very concerned about their child’s fever and sometimes this overconcern can almost reach the level of a phobia. This is due to

Ghrelin is essential for lowering blood pressure during torpor
IntroductionDaily torpor is an active hypothermic phenomenon that is observed in some mammals and birds during fasting. A decrease in blood pressure has also been observed in torpor; however, there remains a lack of knowledge of the underlying mechanism.

Non‐thermal plasma treatment of melanoma cells induced epithelial‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in a dose‐dependent fashion. This report highlights the critical need to further investigate potential adverse effects of non‐thermal plasma for cancer therapy and to optimize treatment parameters for clinical translation. Despite the promising results of non‐

Cold-Blooded Attention: Finger Temperature Predicts Attentional Performance
Thermal stress has been shown to increase the chances of unsafe behavior during industrial and driving performances due to reductions in mental and attentional resources.

Trastuzumab‐deruxtecan, a HER2‐targeting antibody‐drug conjugate, shows promising antitumor activity in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma with low HER2 expression. In vitro and in vivo studies demonstrated dose‐dependent cell death and tumor growth reduction in low HER2‐expressing cell lines, which correlated with drug accumulation measured using a
