Asymmetry of the Ferroelectric Phase Transition in BaTiO3

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Phase transitions are typically assumed to behave identically in forward and reverse. This work shows that in the ferroelectric material barium titanate this is not true: heating drives an abrupt, first‐order jump, while cooling gives a smooth, continuous change.

Parametrical Functioning Study for a Small Boiler Condensing Unit

open access: yesEnergy Procedia, 2017
Abstract Considering the actual concern for reducing the fuel consumption along with pollution reduction, the condensing boilers get a major importance for the manufacturers, mainly for the household heating domain. In the context, more and more small boilers producers shift their non-condensing units to condensing units.

Rewriting Polymer Fate via Chemomechanical Coupling

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces a life‐like “living” polymer platform that can grow, degrow, and reprogram its properties after fabrication. By integrating mass transport, reversible polymerization, and controlled catalysis, the material achieves on‐demand changes in size, shape, and mechanical properties.

Advanced Exergy Analysis in the Dynamic Framework for Assessing Building Thermal Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
This work applies the Dynamic Advanced Exergy Analysis (DAEA) to a heating and domestic hot water (DHW) facility supplied by a Stirling engine and a condensing boiler. For the first time, an advanced exergy analysis using dynamic conditions is applied to

Arm‐Length‐Controlled CsPbBr3 Nanocrystals for Tunable Optical and Assembly Behavior

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, the synthesis parameters that dictate the formation of armed CsPbBr3 nanocrystals are described, and routes enabling precise control over arm length are proposed. Direct links between morphology and optoelectronic behavior are established.

Chromatic‐Invariant Photothermal Fabrics Enabled by Narrow‐Bandgap Organic Semiconductors for Wearable Solar Energy Harvesting

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A chromatic‐invariant photothermal fabric is fabricated for outdoor activewear, realizing 4°C–8°C heating within 5 min under 1000 W m−2 illumination via NIR absorption, retaining high visible‐light reflectivity and original fabric functions, and achieving >95.3% sterilization in 20 min.

Nonlinear Boiler-Turbine Unit: Modelling and Robust Decentralized Control

open access: yesIFAC-PapersOnLine, 2016
Abstract Efficient control of a boiler-turbine unit is of great importance not only in power plants. In this paper, a linearized model is developed for a nonlinear Multi Input-Multi Output model (MIMO) of a utility boiler-turbine unit and a decentralized robust controller is designed.
