Advanced control design for boiler-turbine unit

2011 IEEE International Conference on Control Applications (CCA), 2011
In this paper, a detailed analysis of the current advanced PID control design is given. It consists of dynamic feedforward, setpoint modification and fuzzy logic. The fuzzy logic feedforward can be treated as one kind of nonlinear control. Simulations are performed based on models obtained using real power plant step test data.

Pressure equilibrium control for boiler-turbine units

2009 IEEE International Conference on Computational Intelligence for Measurement Systems and Applications, 2009
An equilibrium control structure for boiler-turbine units is presented in this paper to restrict the exceeding change of steam pressure. The central component of this structure is named as “Steam Pressure Equilibrium Controller”, which is composed with two parts: the pressure error compensator and the pressure set-point optimizer.

Life Assessments of a Boiler Economiser Unit

CORROSION 1997, 1997
Abstract An economiser which experienced pitting corrosion during a cleaning accident was subject to recurring corrosion fatigue failures. A condition assessment was undertaken to assess the risk of further failures through metallurgical assessment, extreme value pitting assessments, and on-site NDT condition assessment with on-site ...

Robust decentralized control for a boiler — turbine unit

2016 Cybernetics & Informatics (K&I), 2016
Performance control of a boiler-turbine unit is of great importance due to demands on the economical operations of power plants and environmental awareness. In this paper, a robust decentralized control of nonlinear multi input-multi output (MIMO) model of a utility boiler-turbine unit is designed.

Predictive control for boiler-turbine unit using ANFIS

2009 International Conference on Test and Measurement, 2009
Coordinated Control System(CCS) in thermal power plant is a system with big inertia, large time delay and slow parameter variance as well as the property of fast parameter variance while the unit load changes. Conventional PID controller and Direct Energy Balance(DEB) Strategy which is tuned at typical operating point can hardly work well at different ...

Multi-model Control of a Boiler-Turbine Unit

2006 Chinese Control Conference, 2006
Multi-model control of a boiler-turbine unit is discussed in this paper. Based on the nonlinear model of the unit, this paper applies the gap metric concept to analyze the problem whether a multi-model control is necessary for the unit, and select the appropriate operating points accordingly.

An autonomous control system for boiler-turbine units

IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, 1996
Achieving a more autonomous power plant operation is an important part of power plant control. To be autonomous, a control system needs to provide adequate control actions in the presence of significant uncertainties and/or disturbances, such as actuator or component failures, with minimum or no human assistance.

Multivariable Nonlinear Control Design for Boiler-Turbine Units

2006 6th World Congress on Intelligent Control and Automation, 2006
This paper deals with the application of a Multivariable Nonlinear Controller (MNC) to a multivariable nonlinear boiler-turbine unit. The method can asymptotically estimate and compensate the nonlinearity, coupling and disturbances owing to its observation ability.

Linear control of a boiler–turbine unit: Analysis and design

ISA Transactions, 2008
Linear control of a boiler-turbine unit is discussed in this paper. Based on the nonlinear model of the unit, this paper analyzes the nonlinearity of the unit, and selects the appropriate operating points so that the linear controller can achieve wide-range performance. Simulation and experimental results at the No.
