Tuning of PID controllers for boiler-turbine units
ISA Transactions, 2004A simple two-by-two model for a boiler-turbine unit is demonstrated in this paper. The model can capture the essential dynamics of a unit. The design of a coordinated controller is discussed based on this model. A PID control structure is derived, and a tuning procedure is proposed.

Advanced control design for boiler-turbine unit
2011 IEEE International Conference on Control Applications (CCA), 2011In this paper, a detailed analysis of the current advanced PID control design is given. It consists of dynamic feedforward, setpoint modification and fuzzy logic. The fuzzy logic feedforward can be treated as one kind of nonlinear control. Simulations are performed based on models obtained using real power plant step test data.

Single boiler-turbine-generator units
Electrical Engineering, 1950WHEN Oswego Steam Station of the Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation was being designed in the late 1930's, a unit system was decided upon, a unit consisting of a boiler, turbine, and generator. No steam, feed water, or electric interconnections at greater voltage were provided between units.

Centralized PID control by decoupling of a boiler-turbine unit
2009 European Control Conference (ECC), 2009This paper deals with the control of a nonlinear boiler-turbine unit, which is a 3×3 multivariable process with great interactions, hard constraints and rate limits imposed on the actuators. A control by decoupling methodology is applied to design a multivariable PID controller for this unit.

Life Assessments of a Boiler Economiser Unit
CORROSION 1997, 1997Abstract An economiser which experienced pitting corrosion during a cleaning accident was subject to recurring corrosion fatigue failures. A condition assessment was undertaken to assess the risk of further failures through metallurgical assessment, extreme value pitting assessments, and on-site NDT condition assessment with on-site ...

Output tracking control of a nonlinear boiler-turbine unit
2004 43rd IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC) (IEEE Cat. No.04CH37601), 2004The capability to perform fast load changes has been an important issue in the power market. An output tracking control system for improving the load-following capability of boiler-turbine units has therefore been developed. The system is composed of stable inversion and feedback controller.

Robust decentralized control for a boiler — turbine unit
2016 Cybernetics & Informatics (K&I), 2016Performance control of a boiler-turbine unit is of great importance due to demands on the economical operations of power plants and environmental awareness. In this paper, a robust decentralized control of nonlinear multi input-multi output (MIMO) model of a utility boiler-turbine unit is designed.

Pressure equilibrium control for boiler-turbine units
2009 IEEE International Conference on Computational Intelligence for Measurement Systems and Applications, 2009An equilibrium control structure for boiler-turbine units is presented in this paper to restrict the exceeding change of steam pressure. The central component of this structure is named as “Steam Pressure Equilibrium Controller”, which is composed with two parts: the pressure error compensator and the pressure set-point optimizer.

An autonomous control system for boiler-turbine units
IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, 1996Achieving a more autonomous power plant operation is an important part of power plant control. To be autonomous, a control system needs to provide adequate control actions in the presence of significant uncertainties and/or disturbances, such as actuator or component failures, with minimum or no human assistance.

Multi-model Control of a Boiler-Turbine Unit
2006 Chinese Control Conference, 2006Multi-model control of a boiler-turbine unit is discussed in this paper. Based on the nonlinear model of the unit, this paper applies the gap metric concept to analyze the problem whether a multi-model control is necessary for the unit, and select the appropriate operating points accordingly.
