Analysis of the regulation of undecaprenyl diphosphate dephosphorylation in Escherichia coli

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
BacA, PgpB, and YbjG phosphatases are involved in undecaprenyl phosphate (C55P) synthesis in Escherichia coli. We analyzed the lipid contents and the gene expression in the gene‐disruption strains. Undecaprenyl diphosphate (C55PP) level increased in the bacA, ybjG double‐disruption strain, but C55P levels were similar in all strains.

Co‐overexpression of the caloric restriction‐induced mitochondrial factors PGC‐1α and MIPEP upregulates Phospho1 expression in adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Caloric restriction that extends lifespan induces the expression of PGC‐1α and MIPEP in white adipose tissue. In this study, co‐overexpression of Pgc‐1α and Mipep upregulated the gene expression of PHOSPHO1. These findings provide new insights into mitochondria‐related mechanisms underlying the effects of caloric restriction in adipocytes.

Influence of the Texture Configuration of Heating Surfaces Created by Laser Irradiation on the Ignition and Combustion Characteristics of Liquid Fuels

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
The main characteristics of ignition and combustion of fuel droplets (organic coal-water fuel, oil emulsion, and oil in the usual state) placed on the heated surfaces of structural steel (DIN standard grade X16CrNi25-20) were experimentally determined ...

Targeting RAGE with Nanobodies for Molecular Imaging of Cancers and Alzheimer's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
RAGE‐specific nanobodies were isolated via phage display and characterized by ELISA, cell ELISA, and SPR. In vivo imaging in renal carcinoma and Alzheimer's disease mouse models demonstrated that NbF8, the highest‐affinity clone, selectively targeted RAGE‐overexpressing tumors and brain tissues, highlighting its potential as a molecular imaging agent ...

open access: yesAllergy, 2003
its capacity to generate a great number of radical sprouts. The spreading of Ailanthus in Cagliari’s district has led to high concentration of its pollen grains in April–June, as detected by the pollen trap. Although Ailanthus was mentioned in two ancient books of allergology (1, 2), has been ignored in the recent literature. The possible sensitization

Investigating the Cellular Effects of GALC Dosing in Enzyme Replacement Therapy for Krabbe Disease Supports the Role of Nanomedicine

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
A detailed workflow for recombinant GALC production and characterization is presented to support enzyme replacement therapy for Krabbe disease. In vitro assays demonstrate that physiological GALC doses restore enzymatic activity and autophagic flux without affecting cell viability, whereas higher doses impair autophagy and reduce viability.

Critical heat flux enhancement in pool boiling through increased rewetting on nanopillar array surfaces

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2018
Boiling is a key heat transfer process for a variety of power generation and thermal management technologies. We show that nanopillar arrays fabricated on a substrate enhance both the critical heat flux (CHF) and the critical temperature at CHF of the ...
