This perspective article explores an innovative powder metallurgical approach to producing high‐nitrogen steels by utilizing a mixture of stainless steel and Si3N4. This mixture undergoes hot isostatic pressing followed by direct quenching. The article also examines adapting this method to laser powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB/M) to overcome nitrogen ...

Lattice Boltzmann simulations of the pool boiling curves above horizontal heaters with homogenous and heterogeneous wettability [PDF]
A hybrid thermal lattice Boltzmann phase-change model was performed to simulate the pool boiling above a smooth horizontal heater. The effects of homogenous and heterogeneous wettability on entire boiling curves from the onset of nucleate boiling (ONB) to fully developed film boiling were investigated comprehensively.

Combining supercritical CO2 (s‐CO2) cycles with particle‐based heat transfer media holds great potential in concentrated solar power plants but poses enormous material challenges. The particle/s‐CO2 heat exchanger must withstand extreme conditions, including high temperatures, pressures, CO2 corrosion, and erosion.

The fabrication and post‐treatment via solvent annealing of poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene) polystyrene sulfonate‐based electrodes using spray deposition in a roll‐to‐roll setup are presented. The decrease in sheet resistance and its correlation with nanostructure and molecular structure in the electrodes as a function of the processing parameters is ...

Hybrid phase-change lattice Boltzmann simulation of the bubble nucleation and different boiling regimes of conjugate boiling heat transfer [PDF]
Pool boiling characteristics in two computational domains with and without considering conjugate heat transfer (CHT) were numerically simulated by an improved hybrid pseudopotential phase-change lattice Boltzmann method (LBM). The effects of constant temperature boundary condition (BC) with nucleate spots and fluctuant temperature on the boiling ...

Principal Mechanism of Boiling Crisis in Pool Boiling
Abstract High-speed photography has been employed to study the mechanism of the boiling crisis in pool boiling of saturated water at high heat fluxes. Three configurations have been examined: normal free boiling on a heated 10-mm dia. horizontal copper disc and the same system subjected to the interference of a flat plate and a short tube held above ...
