Planar Solid‐State Nanopores Toward Scalable Nanofluidic Integration Based on CMOS Technology

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We present a scalable silicon‐based fabrication strategy for planar solid‐state nanopores to enable their integration with complex nanofluidic systems. Prototype devices demonstrate normal voltage‐current characteristics, good noise performance, and appreciable streaming currents. Our CMOS‐compatible fabrication process offers precise geometric control

The lattice Boltzmann method for wind farm simulations: a review [PDF]

open access: yesWind Energy Science
High-fidelity numerical simulations are currently a key method to gain insight into flows in very large wind farms. However, these simulations are extremely costly in terms of computational resources, and the progress in computational efficiency has been

Adaptive partitioning-based discrete unified gas kinetic scheme for flows in all flow regimes

open access: yesAdvances in Aerodynamics, 2023
To improve the efficiency of the discrete unified gas kinetic scheme (DUGKS) in capturing cross-scale flow physics, an adaptive partitioning-based discrete unified gas kinetic scheme (ADUGKS) is developed in this work.

Influence of an Argon/Silane Atmosphere on the Temperature of a Thermal Plasma

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The influence of a silane‐doped argon atmosphere on the chemical composition and temperature of a thermal nontransferring argon plasma is investigated using optical emission spectroscopy. As a result of the high amount of free electrons resulting from the stepwise ionization and dissociation of the silane molecule, even a silane addition of 0.01 vol ...

Steady-state nonequilibrium dynamical mean-field theory and the quantum Boltzman [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We derive the formalism for steady state nonequilibrium dynamical mean-field theory in a real-time formalism along the Kadanoff-Baym contour. The resulting equations of motion are first transformed to Wigner coordinates (average and relative time), and ...

Handbook of Establishing and Maintaining Oxygen‐Free Atmospheres

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a practical framework for creating oxygen‐free atmospheres at ambient pressure using silane‐doped inert gases. The results show that ultra‐low oxygen levels and strongly reduced water content can be achieved through controlled silane dosing, drying systems, and sensor monitoring.

Derivation of fluid dynamics from kinetic theory with the 14--moment approximation

open access: yes, 2012
We review the traditional derivation of the fluid-dynamical equations from kinetic theory according to Israel and Stewart. We show that their procedure to close the fluid-dynamical equations of motion is not unique.

Fluctuating Multicomponent Lattice Boltzmann Model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Current implementations of fluctuating lattice Boltzmann equations (FLBE) describe single component fluids. In this paper, a model based on the continuum kinetic Boltzmann equation for describing multicomponent fluids is extended to incorporate the ...

Composition‐Tuned Enhancement of the Anomalous Nernst Effect in FeCo–Pt Thin Films on Rigid and Flexible Substrates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Disordered (Fe50Co50)1−xPtx thin films exhibit a pronounced anomalous Nernst effect (ANE) with a strong composition dependence on both rigid and flexible substrates. The transverse thermoelectric response peaks near 22.5 at.% Pt, accompanied by enhanced αxy/σxy scaling, thermal transport, and ANE sensitivity.

Modelling dynamics of samples exposed to free-electron-laser radiation with Boltzmann equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
. We apply Boltzmann equations for modelling the radiation damage in samples irradiated by photons from free electron lasers (FELs). We test this method in a study case of a spherically symmetric xenon cluster irradiated with VUV FEL photons ...
