Relaxation rates of the linearized Uehling-Uhlenbeck equation for bosons [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We linearize the Uehling-Uhlenbeck equation for bosonic gases close to thermal equilibrium under the assumption of a contact interaction characterized by a scattering length a.

Surface Tension Measurement of Ti‐6Al‐4V by Falling Droplet Method in Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this article, the temperature‐dependent surface tension of free falling, oscillating Ti‐6Al‐4V droplets is investigated in both argon and monosilane doped, oxygen‐free atmosphere. Droplet temperature and oscillation are captured with one single high‐speed camera, and the surface tension is calculated with Rayleigh's formula.

Two-dimensional modeling of the electrical breakdown in rare gases

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2013
In this work a two-dimensional numerical study of dielectric barrier discharge has been proposed in order to understand the breakdown process in rare gases.

A random projection method for sharp phase boundaries in lattice Boltzmann simulations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Existing lattice Boltzmann models that have been designed to recover a macroscopic description of immiscible liquids are only able to make predictions that are quantitatively correct when the interface that exists between the fluids is smeared over ...

Combinatorial Synthesis of Next Generation Water‐Soluble Quaternized N‐Halamine Oligomers with Long‐Lasting Antiviral Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A combinatorial library of dual‐functional antiviral oligomers incorporating N‐halamine and quaternary ammonium functionalities is developed for long‐lasting antiviral activity. The lead materials exhibit rapid and durable antiviral activity against SARS‐CoV‐2 variants and influenza H1N1, with 4 to 5 log reduction in viral copies at 5 mg mL−1 ...

Plasma Temperature-Based Tissue Differentiation Using Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) for Laser- Guided Osteotomy

open access: yesCurrent Directions in Biomedical Engineering
Laser osteotomy enables precise and minimally invasive bone cutting but lacks real-time feedback on tissue type, increasing the risk of unintended damage to surrounding soft tissues such as tendons, muscles, nerves, and blood vessels.

Conductometric and Spectroscopic Determination of Mebeverine Hydrochloride and the Solubility Products of its Ion Recognition Species

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2012
Conductometric and spectroscopic determination of Mebeverine hydrochloride (MVH), a widely used antispasmodic, with two precipitating reagents; phosphomolybdic acid (PMA) and silver nitrate (AgNO3) has been investigated.

Spatial patterns of random walkers under evolution of the attractiveness: persistent nodes, degree distribution, and spectral properties

open access: yes, 2017
In this paper we explore the features of a graph generated by random walkers with nodes that have evolutionary attractiveness and Boltzmann-like transition probabilities that depend both on the euclidean distance between the nodes and on the ratio ...

Transport coefficients for inelastic Maxwell mixtures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The Boltzmann equation for inelastic Maxwell models is used to determine the Navier-Stokes transport coefficients of a granular binary mixture in $d$ dimensions.

Tuning the Electronic Structure and Spin State of Fe─N─C Catalysts Using an Axial Oxygen Ligand and Fe Clusters for High‐Efficiency Rechargeable Zinc–Air Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A FeN4─O/Clu@NC‐0.1Ac catalyst containing atomically‐dispersed FeN4─O sites (medium‐spin Fe2+) and Fe clusters delivered a half‐wave potential of 0.89 V for ORR and an overpotential of 330 mV at 10 mA cm−2 for OER in 0.1 m KOH. When the catalyst was used in a rechargeable Zn–air battery, a power density of 284.5 mW cm−2 was achieved with excellent ...
