Resource supplementation later in the colony cycle improves real‐world bumblebee colony survival

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 1, January 2026.
Our findings suggest that B. terrestris colonies became food‐limited towards the end of their colony cycle in early summer. We suggest ecological intensification through planting native wildflower species may be more effective if it targets this flowering period, particularly within heavily arable areas, and that a staggered patchwork of mowing or ...

Multi‐species productive grasslands offer advantages over permanent grasslands for arthropod conservation, but preserving semi‐natural grasslands remains essential

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 1, January 2026.
SNGs remain irreplaceable for arthropod conservation, supporting the highest gamma diversity and providing habitat for species sensitive to high LUI. They should be regarded as the cornerstone of arthropod conservation in agricultural landscapes. MSPGs represent an improved alternative to PGs, particularly by enhancing floral resources, although their ...

Innovative Pest Management: Synthesis and Field Trials of Four Pheromones for Controlling Astylus variegatus (Coleoptera: Melyridae) in Soybean Crops

open access: yesEntomological Research, Volume 56, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Soybeans and corn are the primary agricultural commodities in Brazil, both of which are significantly impacted by various pests, leading to substantial crop losses. Notably, coleopteran and lepidopteran pests pose considerable challenges, as they have developed resistance to increasingly toxic chemical controls.

High-Res Acoustic and Environmental Data to Monitor Bombus dahlbomii Amid Invasive Species, Habitat Loss

open access: yesScientific Data
The decline of the endemic Patagonian bumblebee (Bombus dahlbomii) as a result of invasive species and habitat loss, among other stressors, has raised significant conservation concerns for the species and the ecosystem it inhabits.

Bombus ruderatus

open access: yes, 1971
9. B. ruderatus (Fabricius, 1775) In Deutschland allgemein verbreitet und überall häufig. Alfken (1913) fing ihn bei Ahrensch. A. C. W Wagner nennt 1937 57 Fundorte. Diese Angaben mögen die Vermutung zulassen, dass. ruderatus zu jenen Zei ten hier heimisch war. 1959—6 und 1968—69 konnte er jedoch nicht mehr nachgewiesen werden.

Plant‐Pollinator Interaction Rewiring Boosts Year‐to‐Year Community Persistence

open access: yesEcology Letters, Volume 29, Issue 1, January 2026.
Our study shows that year‐to‐year changes in plant–pollinator interactions are not random but structured to enhance pollinator persistence, buffering communities against environmental fluctuations. Using a uniquely resolved 8‐year dataset from 12 sites, we reveal that these shifts are primarily driven by changes in phenology and abundance of the ...
