New species and taxonomic notes on the Apatelodidae (Lepidoptera: Bombycoidea)

Zootaxa
In recent years, the description of new species of Apatelodidae has increased significantly, including details on the morphology of immature stages and their natural history. Recently, a new phylogenetic classification of Apatelodidae genera was proposed resulting in the addition of 16 new genera.

Increased gene sampling yields robust support for higher‐level clades within Bombycoidea (Lepidoptera)

Systematic Entomology, 2010
This study has as its primary aim the robust resolution of higher‐level relationships within the lepidopteran superfamily Bombycoidea. Our study builds on an earlier analysis of five genes (∼6.6 kbp) sequenced for 50 taxa from Bombycoidea and its sister group Lasiocampidae, plus representatives of other macrolepidoteran ...

Invertebrate Systematics
Apatelodidae is a family of New World bombycoids distributed mainly in the Neotropical region, with 14 genera, 222 valid species and 8 subspecies. These moths are medium-sized with a wingspan ranging from 2 to 8 cm, generally greyish, straw-yellow or reddish-brown, with darker spots and lines on the dorsal side of the wings.
