Genome‐wide systematic annotation identified 81 odorant receptors (ORs) and 49 odorant‐binding proteins (OBPs) in the tobacco budworm, Chloridea virescens. Phylogenetic analyses revealed chemosensory gene diversification in Heliothinae and extensive lineage‐specific duplications in C.

A chromosome‐level genome of Elcysma westwoodi was assembled. The genome encodes 272 detoxification‐related genes. A single‐copy bCAS was retained for cyanide detoxification. CYP405A and CYP332A were recruited into cyanogenic defence evolution. UGT33A retained a conserved GT‐B fold and catalytic domains.

Forcibly Spinning Using Bombyx Mori Silkworm Anesthetized by the Water Narcosis Treatment
Herein, the anesthetization of Bombyx mori silkworms via the water narcosis treatment by soaking in room-temperature water for 1 h was found effective in keeping the tensile strength of its forcibly spun silk filament comparable to that of naturally spun

RNA activation in insects: From emerging evidence to molecular applications
Canonical RNA activation involves small RNAs interacting with promoter sequences, but there is also evidence of non‐canonical RNAa in eukaryotes. Emerging evidence suggests the presence of RNAa in insects. RNAa can be utilised as a tool for functional genomic studies in insects.

Identification, expression, and artificial selection of silkworm epigenetic modification enzymes
Background Understanding the genetic basis of phenotype variations during domestication and breeding is of great interest. Epigenetics and epigenetic modification enzymes (EMEs) may play a role in phenotypic variations; however, no comprehensive study ...

Paving the Way for Plant‐Based Bioproduction of (Z)‐13‐Octadecenoic Moth Pheromone Compounds
ABSTRACT Sex pheromones are eco‐friendly agents to control pest insects. Yet, the cost of synthetic pheromone production has restricted their use essentially to high value crops. Plant‐based bioproduction of pheromone compounds offers a promising and sustainable alternative, opening up for the deployment of pheromone‐mediated pest control also in row ...

MicroRNAs of Bombyx mori identified by Solexa sequencing [PDF]
Abstract Background MicroRNA (miRNA) and other small regulatory RNAs contribute to the modulation of a large number of cellular processes. We sequenced three small RNA libraries prepared from the whole body, and the anterior-middle and posterior silk glands of Bombyx mori, with a view to expanding the repertoire of ...

ABSTRACT Background The edible insect industry, driven by the nutritional and environmental benefits of mealworms, faces increasing challenges from pathogens affecting Tenebrio molitor farming systems. Hemocyte‐based health assessments could provide valuable diagnostic insights, yet standardized hemolymph processing protocols and hematological ...
