Nuclear matrix associated RNA datasets of posterior silk glands of Bombyx mori during 5th instar larval development

open access: yesBMC Research Notes, 2021
Objectives Bombyx mori is the key contributor to industrial silk production. The maximum production of silk occurs during 5th instar. The posterior silk glands in the larvae are responsible for the production of the main component of silk fibre—fibroin ...

Noncanonical Nucleotides in the Genome Around the Maternal‐Zygotic Transition

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Zoology Part B: Molecular and Developmental Evolution, EarlyView.
In this paper, Kazzazi et al. provide a comprehensive review of the dynamics of nonconventional nucleotides in the genome during early developmental stages, hypothesizing a potential role for these nucleotides in the activation of the zygotic genome. ABSTRACT From the very moment of fertilization and throughout development, the cells of animal embryos ...

Studies on Hydrocarbons of Bombyx mori L.

open access: yesChemical and Pharmaceutical Bulletin, 1966
The chemical structure of hydrocarbons in the silkworm was shown as comparing with that in the mulberry leaf by means of gas chromatographic technique and mass spectrometry. The hydrocarbons from both the silkworm and mulberry leaf consisted of a mixture of odd-and even-numbered carbons and major hydrocarbons in the wings were C34 to C36 those in both ...

The UDP-glucosyltransferase multigene family in Bombyx mori [PDF]

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2008
Abstract Background Glucosidation plays a major role in the inactivation and excretion of a great variety of both endogenous and exogenous compounds. A class of UDP-glycosyltransferases (UGTs) is involved in this process.

Calpain Proteases and the Evolving Signaling Network in Insect Embryonic Patterning

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Zoology Part B: Molecular and Developmental Evolution, EarlyView.
Insect embryonic Dorsal‐Ventral (DV) patterning relies on the BMP and Toll pathways to different extents. Calcium‐dependent cystein proteases of the Calpain family also exert an important function to pattern the DV axis. In Drosophila, Calpain A cleaves the Cactus/IkappaB inhibitor and modifies Toll signals in ventral regions of the embryo. In Rhodnius

Human corneal epithelial equivalents constructed on Bombyx mori silk fibroin membranes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Membranes prepared from a protein, fibroin, isolated from domesticated silkworm (Bombyx mori) silk, support the cultivation of human limbal epithelial (HLE) cells and thus display significant potential as biomaterials for ocular surface reconstruction ...

Overview of Research onBombyx morimicroRNA [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Insect Science, 2014
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) constitute some of the most significant regulatory factors involved at the post-transcriptional level after gene expression, contributing to the modulation of a large number of physiological processes such as development, metabolism, and disease occurrence.

Multi-omics study and ncRNA regulation of anti-BmNPV in silkworms, Bombyx mori: an update

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2023
Bombyx mori silkworm is an important economic insect which has a significant contribution to the improvement of the economy. Bombyx mori nucleopolyhedrovirus (BmNPV) is a vitally significant purulent virus that impedes the sustainable and stable ...

Silk–Hyaluronic Acid Laryngoplasty Outcomes: An Independent Tertiary Center Experience

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
Silk–hyaluronic acid (silk‐HA) injection laryngoplasty demonstrated favorable voice outcomes for glottic insufficiency in an independent tertiary academic voice center experience. In a within‐patient comparison, silk‐HA showed comparable efficacy to prior HA injection, with 79.3% of patients reporting partial to significant improvement.
