Influence of carbon nanotubes on steel–concrete bond strength
Materials and Structures, 2018In this study, the bond strength between steel and concrete reinforced with multi-walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) is analysed. To this end, pull-out tests were carried out for concretes with incorporation of 0.05–0.1% of different types of functionalized and unfunctionalized CNTs with distinct aspect ratios and dispersion techniques.

Analysis of Steel-Concrete Composite Frames with Bond-Slip
Journal of Structural Engineering, 2001Recent developments in modeling the slip in steel-concrete composite beams have led to an accurate and numerically stable force-based frame element. The element assumes force fields rather than displacement fields along the element. After a brief review of the element formulation, the paper discusses a new phenomenological law for the shear connection ...

Static behaviour of steel concrete beam connected by bonding
Engineering Structures, 2007Abstract Static and instantaneous behaviour of connections between steel and concrete is investigated in the context of composite beam bridges with high strength concrete. Push-out tests were performed under a range of conditions and analysed by means of a 3D-FE model.

Design optimization of bonded steel-concrete composite beams
World Journal of Engineering, 2012Bonded steel-concrete is one new type composite structure in civil engineering domain. Generally, for steel-concrete composite structures, the steel beam and the concrete are connected by means of shear connectors. This work consists in analyzing the design optimization of the steel-concrete composite beam connected by adhesives instead of metal ...

Effect of Condensed Silica Fume on the Steel-Concrete Bond
ACI Materials Journal, 1990This is a study of the effect of condensed silica fume (CSF) on the mechanical behavior of the steel-concrete bond, and on the microstructure of the steel-cement paste transition zone. The mechanical behavior of the steel-cement was studied by using the pullout test on concrete of varying compressive strength, and varying contents of CSF.

Evaluation of Adhesive Bonded Steel Concrete Composite Structures
Structures Congress 2010, 2010Adhesive bonding is a technique for joining parts that is frequently used in automotive and aviation industry. Although there were several applications in steel and concrete structures such as bridges in the last decades, this technology did not become a common structural application in building industry.

Force transfer in epoxy bonded steel/concrete joints
International Journal of Adhesion and Adhesives, 1980Abstract External steel reinforcements are being used for restoring and repairing concrete structures. The external steel is glued to the concrete with an epoxy adhesive. The joints are usually loaded in pure shear or in bending shear. Experimental results of the stress distribution in the adhesive layer in laboratory test specimens are given and the

Non-linear models for steel–concrete epoxy-bonded beams
Journal of Constructional Steel Research, 2014Abstract The main objective of this article is to propose and validate two non-linear models suited for steel–concrete epoxy-bonded composite beams: the first is a multi-layered beam model, and the second uses a finite element model (FEM). We first completed experimental data available in the literature for test results on a steel–concrete beam.

Modeling Steel Concrete Bond Strength Reduction Due to Corrosion
ACI Structural Journal, 2016Reinforcement corrosion in reinforced concrete (RC) structures induces concrete cracking and leads to a reduction in both steel cross section and steel-concrete bond strength. In this paper, a new model is proposed based on a scalar damage parameter Dc that depends on the loss of cross-sectional area of steel due to corrosion. The model predictions are

Bond Plastic Model for Steel–Concrete Damaged Interface Element
Journal of Structural Engineering, 2019AbstractA bond failure criterion, a wave propagation–based dowel action, and an inelastic, three-dimensional, damaged interface element are proposed.
