Assessment of efficacy of various bracket base retention qualities on shear bond strength

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy and Bioallied Sciences
Introduction: Numerous manufacturers have improved bracket retention systems as a result of the frequent bond failure that occurs during orthodontic treatment. One of the elements affecting the adhesive's bond strength is the bracket retention mechanism.

Evaluation of the effect of a self-etching primer on the shear bond strength of a conventional light cure composite resin in the dry state: An in vitro study

open access: yesSRM Journal of Research in Dental Sciences, 2013
Aim: The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of a self-etching primer (SEP Adper Prompt L-pop; 3M ESPE) on the shear bond strength of a conventional light cure composite resin (Transbond XT primer) in the dry state.

Dammarenediol II enhances etoposide‐induced apoptosis by targeting O‐GlcNAc transferase and Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling in liver cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Three-body Hydrogen Bond Defects Contribute Significantly to the Dielectric Properties of the Liquid Water-Vapor Interface

open access: yes, 2018
In this Letter, we present a simple model of aqueous interfacial molecular structure and we use this model to isolate the effects of hydrogen bonding on the dielectric properties of the liquid water-vapor interface. By comparing this model to the results

Rethinking plastic waste: innovations in enzymatic breakdown of oil‐based polyesters and bioplastics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Plastic pollution remains a critical environmental challenge, and current mechanical and chemical recycling methods are insufficient to achieve a fully circular economy. This review highlights recent breakthroughs in the enzymatic depolymerization of both oil‐derived polyesters and bioplastics, including high‐throughput protein engineering, de novo ...

SmallTalk: a novel small‐sized fusion tag for peptide expression and purification

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The SmallTalk fusion tag allows for the efficient expression and purification of soluble recombinant proteins or peptides in Escherichia coli. Testing with SmallTalk‐GFP confirmed that the proteins were soluble and folded correctly, while SmallTalk‐Bin1b maintained its antimicrobial activity against various bacterial isolates. This streamlined workflow
