Evaluating hydrogen‐bond donor strength

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 2000
A parameter that measures hydrogen-bond donor (HBD) strength of solutes is useful in modeling many biological interactions. The solvents octanol and chloroform, have about equal HBD strength and thus will accommodate the hydrogen-bond acceptor (HBA) groups in solutes about equally well.

Cold roll bonding bond strengths: Review

Materials Science and Technology, 2011
Cold roll bonding (CRB), a well established and widely used manufacturing process, is a solid state bonding process to join similar and dissimilar metals. The present work offers a review of the CRB process and effective parameters on bond strength of cold roll bonded materials.

Bond Strength of Bonded SOI Wafers

Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, 1992
We developed a tensile strength measurement technique for bonded silicon-on-insulator (SOI) wafers. After oxidation, wafers are patterned, prior to bonding, to reduce the bonded area. After bonding and grinding, tensile strength is measured by pulling samples perpendicularly to the interface by holders adhesively fixed to the samples. The strength

Orthodontic bracket bonding: Enamel bond strength vs time

American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, 2006
Tests of bond strength between orthodontic brackets and enamel are generally conducted after at least 24 hours storage in water. However, debonding might occur soon after bracket placement during orthodontic treatment. We investigated the rate of bond strength development for orthodontic adhesives in bracket bonding.Four orthodontic adhesive systems ...

Bond strengths of dentine bonding agents to dentine

British Dental Journal, 1992
This study assessed comparatively the tensile bond strengths to dentine of four resin dentine bonding agents. Flat surfaces were produced in the occlusal dentine of human third molars, finished with 600-grit paper and prepared for bonding to Silux Plus composite with Gluma, Prisma Universal Bond 2, Scotchbond 2 and Tenure.

Bond strength and durability of porcelain bonding systems

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1996
Because the most effective bonding system for ceramic restorations has not been documented, this study examined bond strength and durability of bonding systems joined to a feldspathic porcelain. Disks of porcelain specimens were fired on refractory investment materials and were air-abraded with alumina.

Orthodontic bonding to porcelain—Bond strength and refinishing

American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, 1988
Glazed porcelain surfaces are not amenable to resin penetration for orthodontic bonding. The aims of this study were to evaluate (1) the bond strengths of two orthodontic composite materials to treated porcelain surfaces, (2) the effect of thermocycling, and (3) the porcelain surfaces after refinishing.

Shear bond strength of four orthodontic bonding systems

American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, 1990
Recently new orthodontic bonding systems have been developed for attachment of brackets to the etched facial surfaces of teeth. Two of these new systems use bonding agents that contain solvents. It is claimed that this improves the polymerization of the unfilled resin primer and may increase bond strength.

Bond Strengths:  The Importance of Hyperconjugation

Organic Letters, 2006
[Structure: see text] Gronert (J. Org. Chem. 2006, 71, 1209) has challenged the importance of hyperconjugation in determining C-H bond dissociation enthalpies (BDEs) in alkanes. Electron paramaganetic resonance spectra of H3CCH2*, (H3C)2CH*, and (H3C)3C* show significant positive spin on their beta-H3C groups' hydrogens. A 55%/45% partitioning of these
