Management of Periodontal Abscesses and Endodontic‐Periodontal Lesions—A Systematic Review
ABSTRACT Aim To evaluate the management of periodontal abscesses and endodontic‐periodontal lesions (EPLs). Methods Seven focused questions addressed outcomes such as pocket depth (PD), bleeding on probing (BOP), tooth loss or ovoid elevation. The literature search covered three electronic databases and manual sources for intervention studies.

ABSTRACT Aims The intention of this 10‐year prospective case series investigation was to clinically and radiographically investigate the outcomes of a one‐piece alumina‐toughened zirconia oral implant. Materials and Methods Twenty seven patients received one implant each for single crown restorations (SC), while 13 patients received two implants for a ...

ABSTRACT Objective To systematically assess survival, failure, and complication rates of all‐ceramic implant‐supported monolithic and micro‐veneered FDPs (i‐FDPs) in partially/completely edentulous patients compared to veneered restorations. Materials and Methods An electronic search identified prospective clinical studies on all‐ceramic i‐FDPs with at

Variation in arboreality across gorilla populations is associated with systematic differences in manual digital lengths. Using a new dataset of linear metrics from the Bwindi mountain gorillas, we quantify metacarpal and phalangeal lengths in eastern and western gorilla populations across all five rays. Consistent with quantified behavioral differences,

We report that femoral cortical thickness was strongly and negatively associated with secondary osteon porosity in an Australian autopsy sample, indicating that thicker cortices contained less porous secondary osteons. This allometric relationship held for the whole sample, males and sedentary well‐nourished individuals, but not for females or other ...

Bone tissues of Triassic taxa reveal life history signals consistent with climatic variation across southern Pangea, spanning present‐day Brazil, Argentina, Zimbabwe, and India. Slower growth patterns within the Zimbabwean assemblage suggest a comparatively more arid intracontinental environment than those closer to the coast. Artwork by Andrey Atuchin.

Osteotransductive bone cements
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part H: Journal of Engineering in Medicine, 1998Abstract Calcium phosphate bone cements (CPBCs) are osteotransductive, i.e. after implantation in bone they are transformed into new bone tissue. Furthermore, due to the fact that they are mouldable, their osteointegration is immediate. Their chemistry has been established previously.

Thermal analysis of bone cement polymerisation at the cement–bone interface
Journal of Biomechanics, 2004The two major problems that have been reported with the use of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) cement are thermal necrosis of surrounding bone due to the high heat generation during polymerisation and chemical necrosis due to unreacted monomer release. Computer models have been used to study the temperature and monomer distribution after cementation.

AbstractThe effects of adding 1.0 cc of aqueous methylene blue dye as a visual contrast agent to a standard 40 g pack of acrylic bone cement are determined. These cements are evaluated: Simplex P (Radiopaque), Zimmer Bone Cement, and Zimmer LVC Bone Cement. Seven tests were performed.
