Explainable machine learning for neoplasms diagnosis via electrocardiograms: an externally validated study [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Background: Neoplasms remains a leading cause of mortality worldwide, with timely diagnosis being crucial for improving patient outcomes. Current diagnostic methods are often invasive, costly, and inaccessible to many populations. Electrocardiogram (ECG) data, widely available and non-invasive, has the potential to serve as a tool for neoplasms ...

A phase field approach to trabecular bone remodeling [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
We introduce a continuous modeling approach which combines elastic responds of the trabecular bone structure, the concentration of signaling molecules within the bone and a mechanism how this concentration at the bone surface is used for local bone formation and resorption.

Targeting the AKT/mTOR pathway attenuates the metastatic potential of colorectal carcinoma circulating tumor cells in a murine xenotransplantation model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dual targeting of AKT and mTOR using MK2206 and RAD001 reduces tumor burden in an intracardiac colon cancer circulating tumor cell xenotransplantation model. Analysis of AKT isoform‐specific knockdowns in CTC‐MCC‐41 reveals differentially regulated proteins and phospho‐proteins by liquid chromatography coupled mass spectrometry. Circulating tumor cells

Inhibitor of DNA binding‐1 is a key regulator of cancer cell vasculogenic mimicry

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Elevated expression of transcriptional regulator inhibitor of DNA binding 1 (ID1) promoted cancer cell‐mediated vasculogenic mimicry (VM) through regulation of pro‐angiogenic and pro‐cancerous genes (e.g. VE‐cadherin (CDH5), TIE2, MMP9, DKK1). Higher ID1 expression also increased metastases to the lung and the liver.

Secondary myeloid neoplasms: bone marrow cytogenetic and histological features may be relevant to prognosis

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Hematologia e Hemoterapia
Background: Secondary myeloid neoplasms comprise a group of diseases arising after chemotherapy, radiation, immunosuppressive therapy or from aplastic anemia. Few studies have addressed prognostic factors in these neoplasms.

Concentration of MMP-9, TNF-a and IL-6 in patients with tumors and tumor-like bone lesions [PDF]

open access: yesСаратовский научно-медицинский журнал, 2017
Aim: to determine the concentration of MMP-9, TNF-a and IL-6 in blood serum of patients with benign and malignant bone tumors and feasibility of cytokine data use for differential diagnostics of the neoplastic process nature. Material and Methods. Levels
