Advances in anatomy, embryology, and cell biology, 1998
Pauwels (1965) and subsequent workers in the same field have shown that the distribution of the subchondral density within a joint surface can serve as a parametric measurement which reflects the main stress acting on a joint. Our own investigations on anatomical specimens have demonstrated that this subchondral mineralization does indeed show regular ...

Bone plate fixation of mandibular fractures
International Journal of Oral Surgery, 1980Bone plate fixation has been applied in 11 out of 1400 patients with fractures of the jaws treated between 1970 and 1978. Most of the case were edentulous patients with dislocated fractures or nonunion fractures due to infection or inadequate immobilization of the fragments in the mandible.

Using Fuji Prescale Pressure Sensitive Film we evaluated the influence of screw torque, object radius of curvature, mode of bone plate application (compression or neutral loading) and bone plate design on bone-plate interface mechanics. Testing was performed using 4.5 mm and 3.5 mm dynamic compression (DC) (stainless steel) and limited contact-dynamic ...

Salvage of the mandibular staple bone plate following bone infection
Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, 1985Two cases of previously unreported complications associated with implantation of a mandibular staple bone plate are presented. One was a proven case of chronic osteomyelitis, and the other had a close clinical and radiographic resemblance to osteomyelitis.

Biomimetic nanocoating of bone plates
2016 20th National Biomedical Engineering Meeting (BIYOMUT), 2016Infection and nonunion following fracture fixation remain as unsolved problems of orthopaedic surgery. This condition may lead to implant failures and necessitate further surgical interventions, ending up with increased morbidity and treatment costs.
