Evaluating the effectiveness of the D1 Now intervention to improve outcomes among young adults with type 1 diabetes: Protocol for a cluster randomised controlled trial

open access: yesDiabetic Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Young adults living with type 1 diabetes (T1D) often experience sub‐optimal outcomes due to competing life demands, disruptions in care, reduced clinic attendance, and difficulties in self‐management. To improve outcomes among this population, we developed and piloted the D1 Now intervention using a user‐centred and theory‐informed ...

Association Between the GMI/HbA1c Ratio and Microvascular Complications in Type 1 Diabetes: A Multicenter Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To clarify whether the glucose management indicator (GMI)/glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) ratio (GMI/HbA1c ratio) is an independent predictor of microvascular complications in Type 1 diabetes (T1D). Design and Methods Multicentre, cross‐sectional, observational study including subjects with T1D with at least 5 years of evolution, users ...

Life‐History Traits and Overwintering of Actia interrupta (Diptera: Tachinidae), a Larval Parasitoid of Choristoneura fumiferana (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae)

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, EarlyView.
Actia interrupta is a larval tachinid parasitoid that plays a key role in regulating low‐density populations of the eastern spruce budworm. We describe its immature stages, life‐history traits, host‐searching behavior, development, and confirm its larviparous reproductive strategy.

Host Detection by Cuckoo Bumblebees: Choice Experiments Reveal Non‐Visual Cues Support Host Detection, but Accuracy Is Low

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, EarlyView.
Female Bombus vestalis cuckoo bumblebees were introduced to a flight arena containing four identical opaque boxes, featuring slits to release volatiles from the bumblebees inside. When only one box contained a developing host colony, the cuckoos were able to locate their hosts among the four boxes with 66.2% accuracy.

Clinical comparison of mouthrinse and orodispersible film containing cystatins and a statherin‐derived peptide against initial dental erosion

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Oral Sciences, EarlyView.
Abstract This randomized crossover in vivo study compared the anti‐erosive efficacy of solution and orodispersible film (ODF) formulations containing three cystatins (CaneCPI‐5, MaquiCPI‐3, and CsinCPI‐2) combined with a statherin‐derived peptide (StN15pSpS).

The Company We Keep: Effects of Different Social Environments on Male Guinea Pig Behaviour and Hormones Over the Course of the Ontogeny

open access: yesEthology, EarlyView.
To examine how their behaviour and hormones change over different life phases, male guinea pigs experienced two different social environments from juvenility to adulthood. Only one environment contained social stimulation by unfamiliar conspecifics. Although no differences in testosterone and cortisol concentrations were found, it was interesting that ...
