Identification of a mutation in the para-sodium channel gene of the cattle tick Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus associated with resistance to synthetic pyrethroid acaricides [PDF]
Resistance against synthetic pyrethroid (SP) products for the control of cattle ticks in Australia was detected in the field in 1984, within a very short time of commercial introduction.

Medical and Veterinary Entomology, 2020
The aim of this work was to test the efficacy of winter–spring control strategies against Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus (Canestrini, 1888) (Ixodida: Ixodidae) in an area highly favourable for its development in Argentina.

Efficacy of arecoline hydrobromide against cattle tick Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus
, 2020The objective of the present study was to determine the efficacy of arecoline hydrobromide against Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus. Larval packet test (LPT) was performed on larvae produced from collected ticks.

Boophilus microplus: Characterization of larval proteases
Experimental Parasitology, 1978Abstract Studies were made on proteolytic activity for homogenates of larval Boophilus microplus ticks. Maximal activity was recorded at pH 3–3.5 in the 27,000g supernatant fraction. Hydrolysis of bovine serum albumin was inhibited by excess substrate; the optimum concentration was 0.8 mg%.

Assortative Mating between Boophilus Decoloratus and Boophilus Microplus (Acari: Ixodidae)
Journal of Medical Entomology, 1986Observation of mixed infestations of Boophilus decoloratus and B. microplus on cattle shows that assortative mating occurs. The result is a smaller number of hybrid matings than is expected from random mating. The finding has relevance to studies of species interactions and to attempts at genetic control.

Boophilus microplus: Cattle antienzymes to larval phosphomonoesterases
Experimental Parasitology, 1980Abstract Cattle with previous experience in infection with the cattle tick, Boophilus microplus, were shown to have significant levels of antienzymes directed against phosphomonoesterases of Boophilus microplus larvae. Cattle without previous experience in infection do not show any antienzymatic activity.

Functional bovine immunoglobulins in Boophilus microplus hemolymph
Veterinary Parasitology, 1996The aim of the present work was to quantify the passage of bovine immunoglobulins into the hemolymph of the tick Boophilus microplus during the feeding process and to determine their antibody activity. The knowledge is of paramount importance when vector control or blocking of disease transmission is attempted by vaccination of cattle. Approximately 2%
