Key Connectomes and Synaptic‐Compartment‐Specific Risk Genes Drive Pathological α‐Synuclein Spreading

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Utilizing a stereotaxic injection mouse model and a novel mathematical approach, this study uncovers key subnetworks that drive pathological α‐synuclein (α‐Syn) progression in Parkinson's disease (PD). Remarkably, just 2% of the strongest connections in the connectome are sufficient to predict its spread.

How to Address Non-normality: A Taxonomy of Approaches, Reviewed, and Illustrated

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2018
The linear model often serves as a starting point for applying statistics in psychology. Often, formal training beyond the linear model is limited, creating a potential pedagogical gap because of the pervasiveness of data non-normality.

Computation of the distribution of model accuracy statistics in machine learning: Comparison between analytically derived distributions and simulation‐based methods

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, 2023
Background and Aims All fields have seen an increase in machine‐learning techniques. To accurately evaluate the efficacy of novel modeling methods, it is necessary to conduct a critical evaluation of the utilized model metrics, such as sensitivity ...

Bootstrap, Wild Bootstrap and Generalized Bootstrap

open access: yes, 1995
Some modifications and generalizations of the bootstrap procedurehave been proposed. In this note we will consider the wild bootstrap and the generalized bootstrap and we will give two arguments why it makes sense touse these modifications instead of the original bootstrap.

Bootstrapping heteroskedastic regression models: wild bootstrap vs. pairs bootstrap [PDF]

open access: yesComputational Statistics & Data Analysis, 2005
In regression models, appropriate bootstrap methods for inference robust to heteroskedasticity of unknown form are the wild bootstrap and the pairs bootstrap. The finite sample performance of a heteroskedastic-robust test is investigated with Monte Carlo experiments.

De Novo Reconstruction of 3D Human Facial Images from DNA Sequence

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study introduces Difface, a novel deep‐learning model for reconstructing 3D facial images only from DNA data. By integrating transformer networks, spiral convolutions, and a diffusion model, Difface directly aligns high‐dimensional SNP data with 3D facial structures.

Amelia II: A Program for Missing Data

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Software, 2011
Amelia II is a complete R package for multiple imputation of missing data. The package implements a new expectation-maximization with bootstrapping algorithm that works faster, with larger numbers of variables, and is far easier to use, than various ...

Reliability analysis for a large and complex landslide in the three gorges reservoir area (China) based on incomplete information

open access: yesGeomatics, Natural Hazards & Risk, 2019
The soil parameters for large, complex landslides are typically derived from incomplete information based on a small sample set due to budgetary constraints.

Bootstrap confidence intervals

open access: yes, 1996
This article surveys bootstrap methods for producing good approximate confidence intervals. The goal is to improve by an order of magnitude upon the accuracy of the standard intervals 0 ?
