Secure Authentication and Credential Establishment in Narrowband IoT and 5G
Security is critical in the deployment and maintenance of novel IoT and 5G networks. The process of bootstrapping is required to establish a secure data exchange between IoT devices and data-driven platforms. It entails, among other steps, authentication,

Dependence of Stock Returns in Bull and Bear Markets
Despite of its many shortcomings, Pearson’s rho is often used as an association measure for stock returns. A conditional version of Spearman’s rho is suggested as an alternative measure of association. This approach is purely nonparametric and avoids any

Minimal and maximal plateau lengths in Motzkin paths [PDF]
The minimal length of a plateau (a sequence of horizontal steps, preceded by an up- and followed by a down-step) in a Motzkin path is known to be of interest in the study of secondary structures which in turn appear in mathematical biology. We will treat

Bootstrap, Wild Bootstrap and Generalized Bootstrap [PDF]
Some modifications and generalizations of the bootstrap procedurehave been proposed. In this note we will consider the wild bootstrap and the generalized bootstrap and we will give two arguments why it makes sense touse these modifications instead of the original bootstrap.

A Weighted Bootstrap Approach to Bootstrap Iteration
Summary The operation of resampling from a bootstrap resample, encountered in applications of the double bootstrap, maybe viewed as resampling directly from the sample but using probability weights that are proportional to the numbers of times that sample values appear in the resample.

We propose a methodology for constructing confidence regions with partially identified models of general form. The region is obtained by inverting a test of internal consistency of the econometric structure. We develop a dilation bootstrap methodology to deal with sampling uncertainty without reference to the hypothesized economic structure.

Partial dependence of ultrasonically estimated fetal weight on biometric parameters
Accurate assessment of estimated fetal weight (EFW) is crucial in obstetrics, yet the exact contribution of biometric parameters in sonographic formulas remains unclear.

Edges and Overlaps in Northwest Atlantic Phylogeography
As marine environments change, the greatest ecological shifts—including resource usage and species interactions—are likely to take place in or near regions of biogeographic and phylogeographic transition.

Unveiling Insights: Harnessing the Power of the Most-Frequent-Value Method for Sensor Data Analysis
The paper explores the application of Steiner’s most-frequent-value (MFV) statistical method in sensor data analysis. The MFV is introduced as a powerful tool to identify the most-common value in a dataset, even when data points are scattered, unlike ...
