Digital phase conjugation of second harmonic radiation emitted by nanoparticles in turbid media [PDF]
We demonstrate focusing coherent light on a nanoparticle through turbid media based on digital optical phase conjugation of second harmonic generation (SHG) field from the nanoparticle.

Persistent luminescence in Eu2+-doped compounds : a review [PDF]
In 1996, Matsuzawa et al. reported on the extremely long-lasting afterglow of SrAl2O4:Eu2+ codoped with Dy3+ ions, which was more than 10-times brighter than the previously widely used ZnS:Cu,Co.

Effect of silver metallic particles on the spectral properties of europium ions in a potassium barium borate glass [PDF]
Potassium barium borate glasses (KBBO) embedded with europium and/or silver were made by the melt quenching technique. Silver metallic particles were induced by the heat-treatment technique. The average size of the particles is 4 nm.

Experimental observation of nonclassical effects on single-photon detection rates [PDF]
It is often asserted that quantum effects can be observed in coincidence detection rates or other correlations, but never in the rate of single-photon detection. We observe nonclassical interference in a singles rate, thanks to the intrinsic nonlinearity

Entangled photon apparatus for the undergraduate laboratory
We present detailed instructions for constructing and operating an apparatus to produce and detect polarization-entangled photons. The source operates by type-I spontaneous parametric downconversion in a two-crystal geometry.

Two microwave‐assisted synthetic methods, specifically a one‐pot and a seeded‐growth approach, are developed within a hydroalcoholic solution for the growth of single‐phase ternary WxTi1‐xO2 and heterostructured TiO2‐WO3‐x colloidal nanocrystals. Both types of nanocrystals show significant photocatalytic activity for 4‐methoxybenzyl alcohol oxidation ...
