Crystallization of lithium borate glasses
Journal of Materials Science, 1992The glass-forming ability and crystallization behaviour of lithium borate compositions, in the diborate to metaborate range, were studied. In particular, the nature and sequence of formation of crystalline phases and the tendency towards devitrification were investigated as functions of temperature, thermal history and batch composition.

Glass and Ceramics, 2008
The existing hypotheses on the structure of alkali borate glass were comprehensively analyzed. Their imperfection in explaining the dependences of the properties of the glasses on their composition was noted. Alternative schemes of structural borate complexes which more convincingly explain the characteristics of the change in the properties of this ...

Gradient index in borate glasses
SPIE Proceedings, 1994ABSTRACTA number of aluminum—borate glasses has been developed for producing gradient index glasses by exchang-ing. Both positive and negative axial grandient were fabracated in the glasses by exchange of Li+ for Na+ and Na+ for Li , respectively. Index change to 0.

Structural models for borate glasses
Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids, 1985Abstract Neither the Levedev crystalline model nor the Warren and Zachariasen random network model is appropriate for borate glasses. But Jan Krogh-Moe, perhaps building on the ideas of G. Hagg which were disputed by Zachariasen, suggested that borate glasses should contain the larger structural groupings (boroxol, diborate, metaborate, etc.) that ...

Color centers in borate glasses
Vetro e Silicati, 1966The color centers of the alkali borate glasses are discussed in terms of structural units. The radiation-induced color centers in these glasses are studied by means of optical absorption and E.S.R. The absorption bands of the 2 types of spectra are correlated to the various types of structural units present in these glasses and a no.

Structural Changes in Borate Glasses
1974A series of potassium borate glasses (100-x) B2O3.K2O) was prepared from analytical reagent chemicals and the glass samples were analysed for the determination of potassium and boron concentrations. Many physical and chemical properties of these glasses were studied and the property-composition curves are presented. Four structural changes are observed

Structural Groupings in Borate Glasses
MRS Proceedings, 1985A. A. Lebedev developed a crystallite model for glasses in the 1920's which was supported by the 1930 publication of Randall, Rooksby, and Cooper But, the 1932 publication by Zachariasen entitled “The Atomic Arrangement in Glass” introduced the Warren and Zachariasen continuous random network (CRN) model.

Pseudospin Echoes in Borate Glasses
1984The amorphous properties of a family of ionic conducting lithium borate glasses (B2O3 — x Li2O — y LiC1) have been measured recently [1]. From desaturation experiments an evaluation of the transverse relaxation time T2 (10−7 sec) of the pseudospins was possible when their minimum longitudinal relaxation time T1m was in the range of 10−5 sec.
