Relationship between Boredom Proneness and Impulsivity
Psychological Reports, 1992As part of a larger investigation, the relationship between boredom proneness and impulsiveness was investigated among 381 undergraduates. A significant positive correlation of .56 obtained between boredom proneness and impulsivity. Significant positive associations were also found between scores on boredom proneness and impulsiveness subscales.

Human Factors: The Journal of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, 1995
The present study examined the effects of instruction type and boredom proneness (BP) on vigilance performance, workload, and boredom. Subjects completed the Boredom Proneness Scale and were assigned to high and low groups based on their scores. They then monitored a VDT for critical signals.

Boredom Proneness and Political Activism
Psychological Reports, 1989Boredom proneness as related to political activism was studied in three groups, namely, undergraduate students, graduate students, and senior citizens. It was hypothesized that individuals who express a disinclination to vote would score higher in boredom than subjects who express an intent to vote. A second hypothesis stated that individuals who value

A Short Boredom Proneness Scale
Assessment, 2016It has been evident for some time that the Boredom Proneness Scale (BPS), a commonly used measure of trait boredom, does not constitute a single scale. Factor analytic studies have identified anything from two to seven factors, prompting Vodanovich and colleagues to propose an alternative two factor, short form version Boredom Proneness Scale–Short ...

Sex Differences in Boredom Proneness
Psychological Reports, 2006To identify sex differences in boredom proneness, 146 undergraduates (66 men and 80 women) were asked to complete the Boredom Proneness Scale. An independent groups t test indicated a statistically significant mean difference in boredom proneness as men scored significantly higher than women.

Effect of Boredom Proneness on Time Perception
Psychological Reports, 1991As part of a larger study examining attribution differences in boredom, the effect of Boredom Proneness on perception of time passage was investigated in 110 undergraduates completing a tedious number-circling task. Highly boredom-prone individuals perceived time as passing more slowly during the task than low boredom-prone persons, but the two groups ...

Boredom Proneness and the Need for Cognition
Journal of Research in Personality, 1994Abstract The effect of need for cognition on boredom proneness scores among 214 undergraduates was investigated using the short form of the Need For Cognition Scale (Cacioppo, Petty, & Kao, 1984) and Farmer and Sundberg′s (1986) Boredom Proneness Scale.

IS BOREDOM PRONENESS ASSOCIATED WITH INTROSPECTIVENESS?
Social Behavior and Personality: an international journal, 2000The relationship between boredom proneness and introspectiveness among a sample of French adults (N = 154) was investigated). The results indicated that highly boredom-prone individuals are also prone to increased introspectiveness. Also, highly self-focused personality is related to poor external, but not internal, stimulation.

Mobile technology is becoming a loyal companion in our lives. It is used for increasing amounts of time during the day and night, enabling the development of intelligent user interfaces that characterize their users' traits and adapt to them. In this paper, we show how an individual's tendency to experience boredom, i.e.

Boredom Proneness--The Development and Correlates of a New Scale
Journal of Personality Assessment, 1986This article reports the development, validation, and correlates of a self-report measure of boredom proneness. The 28-item Boredom Proneness (BP) Scale demonstrates satisfactory levels of internal consistency (coefficient alpha = .79) and test-retest reliability (r = .83) over a 1-week interval.
