STUDY OF BOREHOLE HEAT EXCHANGER HEAT TRANSFER ENHANCEMENT PARAMETERS

open access: yesJournal of Mathematics, Mechanics and Computer Science, 2022
This paper discusses the study of parameters for improving the heat transfer of a borehole heat exchanger for a ground source heat pump application. The study of efficiency parameters was carried out based on an experimental prototype of a ground source heat pump developed by the authors.

Numerical Analysis of Enhanced Conductive Deep Borehole Heat Exchangers [PDF]

open access: yesSustainability, 2021
Geothermal energy is a reliable and mature energy source, but it represents less than 1% of the total renewable energy mix. While the enhanced geothermal system (EGS) concept faces technical validation challenges and suffers from public acceptance issues, the development of unconventional deep-well designs can help to improve their efficiency and ...

Study on the Influence of Borehole Heat Capacity on Deep Coaxial Borehole Heat Exchanger [PDF]

open access: yesSustainability, 2022
Based on a semi-analytical model established previously for heat transfer in coaxial borehole heat exchangers, the influences of the heat capacities of different parts of the borehole (fluid, pipes and grout) on the performance of deep coaxial borehole heat exchanger (DCBHE) are analyzed.

Explicit Multipole Formulas for Calculating Thermal Resistance of Single U-Tube Ground Heat Exchangers

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
Borehole thermal resistance is both an important design parameter and a key performance characteristic of a ground heat exchanger. Another quantity that is particularly important for ground heat exchangers is the internal thermal resistance between the ...

Numerical study on heat transfer efficiency for borehole heat exchangers in Linqu County, Shandong Province, China

open access: yesEnergy Reports, 2022
Developing shallow geothermal energy with borehole heat exchangers helps energy supply and CO2 emission reduction. This paper comprehensively investigates the influencing factors on heat transfer efficiency of a single borehole heat exchanger based on ...

GROUND TEMPERATURE MONITORING FOR A COAXIAL GEOTHERMAL HEAT EXCHANGERS FIELD: PRACTICAL ASPECTS AND MAIN ISSUES FROM THE FIRST YEAR OF MEASUREMENTS

open access: yesRudarsko-geološko-naftni Zbornik, 2018
Ground temperature at shallow depth (< 50 m) is not stable, nor in space, neither in time, and its behaviour is the result of superimposition of effects of heat pulses of different origin: solar, geothermal and anthropic. The correct assessment of ground

Thermal stresses in borehole heat exchangers

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, 2015
SummaryThe backfilling materials of borehole heat exchangers (BHE), particularly the grout material, must provide a suitable thermal contact and ensure durability to the induced thermal stresses because of the heat loading. In this paper, the thermal stresses that occurred in BHEs because of heat injection or extraction is investigated with an ...

Divergent Responses of Bacterial Communities to Permafrost Degradation and Their Associations With Carbon Across Vertical Profiles

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Bacterial α‐diversity decreases, but stochasticity and community stability increase across the 15 m‐depth vertical profiles and along the degraded gradient within the active layer. The abundance and interaction of core taxa mainly control community stability in the active and permafrost layers, respectively.
