Neutrino physics with Borexino

Progress in Particle and Nuclear Physics, 2011
Abstract Solar neutrinos have been detected over the past 40 years, providing the first evidence of physics beyond the Standard Model for elementary particle interactions. The hypothesis of neutrino oscillations has offered a solution to the long-standing solar neutrino problem (missing solar neutrinos).

Data analysis in Borexino

International Journal of Modern Physics A, 2014
The signal produced in Borexino by solar neutrinos interacting in the liquid scintillator has no particular signatures that allow to distinguish it from the background on a event-by-event basis. I recall the main features of the analysis method and, in particular, I describe three procedures that have been particularly implemented in Borexino and that

Status of Borexino

2001
Experiment Borexino, that is now under construction at the Gran Sasso laboratory in Italy, is devoted to provide the first direct measurement of the solar Be-7 neutrinos. It is expected to start data taking at the end of 2001. In this paper a brief description of its status and construction phases is given.

BOREXINO: the technical description

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2001
Abstract The BOREXINO apparatus is currently under construction in the Hall C of the LNGS underground labs. BOREXINO is a low-background detector to study the sub-MeV solar neutrino events (mainly 7 Be) making use of a well-shielded ultrapure scintillator.

RESULTS FROM THE BOREXINO EXPERIMENT

2010
Borexino is a real-time experiment for low energy neutrino spectroscopy, operating at the Laboratori Nazionali del Gran Sasso (Italy). Borexino is the first experiment to report a real-time observation of low energy solar neutrinos below 4.5 MeV, which were not accessible so far with the state-of-the art detector technologies because of natural ...
